Job Summary:
Integrated Fire & Security Solutions Tampa, FL Branch is seeking an Assistant Fire Alarm Inspector to join our team. The Assistant is to be responsible for assisting on inspecting a building to ensure its low voltage system complies with all local, state, and federal codes and the owner required operations. This individual will focus on the proper function of the alarm systems but also inspect other systems that support our customers, including but not limited to Intrusion, Access Control, and CCTV. The ideal candidate is willing and able to assist other inspectors while making sure all safety policies are being followed & all work is compliant with industry standards.
The Assistant reports directly to the Service Manager. The Inspector also works closely with the Service Coordinator and Lead Service Inspector. Service area will primarily be Pasco County.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist with conducting routine inspections, testing, and preventative maintenance on Fire Alarm, Access Control, CCTV, and Intrusion systems, as well as similar competitive manufacturers’ products.
- Support work involving low voltage wiring and associated devices for proper system operation.
- Help complete Service Acknowledgements and Inspection Documentation accurately using laptops or hard copy formats.
- Maintain and organize inspection documents, including those required by authorities having jurisdiction (e.g., Joint Commission, Florida Agency for Health Care Administration).
- Follow and assist in maintaining a structured inspection schedule.
- Input, retrieve, and archive inspection documents electronically.
- Ensure timely completion of assigned support tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Inspector or Service Manager.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of experience in low voltage systems or related technical field preferred.
- Ability to read and interpret basic diagrams and manuals.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record
- Strong desire to learn and build a long-term career in low voltage systems.
- Ability to maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending training sessions, seminars, and staying current with industry standards and technologies.
- Demonstrated reliability, responsibility, and trustworthiness.
- Ability to work collaboratively and build positive relationships with team members and customers.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills for troubleshooting systems and assisting with repairs.
- Attention to detail and thoroughness in completing tasks and documentation accurately.
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to meet deadlines and support team goals.
- Initiative to identify tasks that need attention and act promptly.
- Effective communication skills and ability to gather and clarify information when needed.
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
