Job Summary:
CJ Suppression (CJS) is seeking a driven Account Executive – Construction to expand our footprint across the Southern California construction market. This role focuses on re-engaging previous customers while developing new relationships with general contractors, building owners, construction managers, and facility teams.
The Account Executive will focus on promoting fire sprinkler new installation, tenant improvements, and retrofit opportunities. This individual will report to the branch general manager and will operate primarily in the field, conducting job walks, project surveys, and customer visits to identify and secure new business.
**This position is commission‑eligible**
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Build and expand relationships with general contractors, subcontractors, construction managers, building owners, and end users.
- Identify and secure direct negotiated sales opportunities for fire sprinkler new installations, TI projects, retrofits, and upgrades.
- Conduct job walks and field surveys to develop accurate scopes of work and assess additional opportunities.
- Re-engage previous CJS customers and pursue new construction‑focused business in the Southern California region.
- Collaborate with the sales team to maintain a strong sales pipeline and participate in weekly activity and strategy meetings.
- Generate new business opportunities through cold calling, jobsite visits, networking, and follow-up communication.
- Prepare proposals, estimates, and scopes of work aligned with customer needs and industry standards.
- Partner with estimating, service, and operations teams to ensure proposed solutions are feasible and accurately represented.
- Support broader business development efforts including lead generation, presentations, and customer outreach.
- Document all proposals, interactions, and pipeline activity in the company CRM.
- Work cross-functionally with project managers and internal office teams to ensure smooth project handoff and execution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Proven B2B sales experience required, preferably within construction, fire protection, life safety services, or another technical field.
- Strong communication and relationship‑building skills with a customer‑first mindset.
- Ability to conduct field surveys, job walks, and develop accurate scopes and proposals.
- Ability to read or interpret plans, drawings, or basic construction documents.
- Comfortable working on active construction sites and engaging with contractors and field personnel.
- Proficiency with CRM systems (Q360 preferred) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage time, pipeline, and follow-up independently.
- Comfortable with cold calling and initiating outreach to new prospects.
- High professionalism, integrity, and accountability.
- Proficient with computers and mobile devices.
- Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.
This pay range reflects the compensation rate Fortis Fire & Safety reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors such as experience and skillset. Compensation Rate
$70,000 - $80,000 USD
This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.
