Job Summary:

Piper Fire Protection's Clearwater, FL Branch is seeking an experienced sales leader to serve as Sales Manager, accountable for the strategy, performance, and growth of the branch's sales organization across both service/deficiency sales and construction/project sales. This is a player-coach role: in addition to leading a team of sales professionals, the Sales Manager will carry an individual quota and actively develop their own book of business across Piper's fire alarm and fire sprinkler offerings - including new system installation, service, and inspection and testing agreements. The role is responsible for driving revenue performance across both the team and the manager's individual production, and for building strong customer and market relationships.

The Sales Manager oversees two complementary revenue streams (recurring service and deficiency sales, and construction/project sales) and is expected to coach, forecast, and personally sell across both. This is not a passive or administrative leadership role. Success requires visible, hands-on coaching in the field, personal selling activity, active pipeline management, and a relentless focus on team development and revenue growth. The Sales Manager will also represent Piper in the local construction community (including active participation in Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and similar industry organizations) to build relationships with general contractors, developers, and end users in the Clearwater market. You will work closely with senior leadership to set territory strategy, refine sales processes, and ensure consistent execution across the team.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop a high-performing sales team aligned with company growth objectives.
  • Coach and develop the team through one-on-ones, ride-alongs, and in-the-field deal support, driving both skill development and deal progression.
  • Set clear performance expectations, track KPIs, and manage performance improvement plans as needed.
  • Foster a team culture centered on integrity, customer focus, and continuous improvement.
  • Carry an individual sales quota, sourcing and closing fire alarm and fire sprinkler opportunities (including new system installations, service, and inspection and testing agreements) alongside the team.
  • Own the team's revenue targets, gross margin performance, forecast accuracy, and pipeline health across the assigned territory and market segments.
  • Develop and execute territory sales strategies that maximize penetration of target markets and customer segments across both service/deficiency and construction/project channels, balancing recurring revenue growth with new project pursuits.
  • Personally cultivate relationships with key general contractors, developers, property managers, and end users (including through active membership in Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) and similar trade associations) to position Piper as the preferred fire protection partner in the Clearwater market.
  • Support team members on complex deals, large accounts, and high-value negotiations.
  • Lead weekly pipeline reviews and enforce CRM discipline across the team, identifying risks, acceleration opportunities, and coaching needs.
  • Partner directly with executive leadership on sales forecasts, market intelligence, and growth planning for the Clearwater branch.
  • Collaborate with operations and service delivery teams to ensure seamless handoffs and customer satisfaction post-sale.
  • Partner with marketing and business development to align on lead generation, campaigns, and market presence.
  • Participate in pricing, proposal strategy, and contract review for key opportunities.

Required Skills & Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED required; Bachelor’s degree in Business, Communications, or related field preferred.
  • 7+ years of B2B sales experience, with at least 3 years in a sales leadership or people-management role with direct quota responsibility for the team.
  • Minimum 5 years of fire protection industry sales experience (sprinkler, fire alarm, low voltage life-safety, or related life-safety contracting), with direct experience selling both service/deficiency work and construction/project work.
  • Strong working knowledge of fire alarm and low voltage service offerings, including the technical, code, and operational considerations that drive customer buying decisions.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading commission-based or quota-carrying sales teams to meet or exceed revenue and margin targets in a contracting or service-based environment.
  • Familiarity with design-build, negotiated project work, and recurring service/contract sales models preferred.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency with CRM platforms and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Data-driven mindset with the ability to analyze pipeline metrics and translate insights into action.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and accountability in all interactions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Willingness to be present in the field with the team on a regular basis.
  • Ability to meet company driving eligibility requirements, including holding a valid driver’s license and maintaining an acceptable motor vehicle record.

This role may require extended periods of sitting or standing, movement around the office or job site, and operation of standard equipment. Physical activities can include reaching, bending, kneeling, climbing, and lifting up to 75 lbs. Field positions may involve heavy lifting, working in varying climates (including outdoor conditions), construction or low-voltage environments, and exposure to dust, noise, or confined spaces. Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required. Some roles may require travel.

Classification of protected categories is as follows:

Form CC-305

OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
