Head of Power & Infrastructure Development
About Us:
Fortitude, backed by DCG, is an institutional-scale, vertically integrated venture mining platform operating across the Proof-of-Work ecosystem and anchored in Zcash. The Company pairs self-mining operations with an owned data center footprint, a diversified power portfolio backed by competitive long-term contracts, and disciplined capital allocation to identify and scale high-conviction opportunities in emerging Proof-of-Work protocols, beginning with its leadership position in the Zcash network.
Fortitude is led by an experienced team of operators, capital markets professionals, and digital asset specialists with a track record of identifying and scaling high-conviction opportunities and building privacy-preserving digital asset infrastructure.
Description
The Head of Power & Infrastructure will own how Fortitude secures, structures, and develops power-backed sites. You will find the land, negotiate with utilities and landowners, and lead acquisitions from first conversation through close. In a dual function, you will also lead the day-to-day power strategy. This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who knows power markets well and is equally comfortable at a county meeting, in a utility negotiation, or at a substation fence line.
Primary Duties & Responsibilities
Site Origination & Acquisition
- Lead the identification, evaluation, and acquisition of power-advantaged sites, with a focus on land adjacent to existing infrastructure, including substations and/or transmission
- Work directly with landowners to source and negotiate purchases of land and existing facilities
- Run site diligence, including interconnection capacity, load availability, zoning, title, environmental, and permitting
- Build and manage a pipeline of acquisition of existing mining sites and greenfield opportunities across target markets
Utility & Power Deal Structuring
- Develop and maintain relationships with local utilities, public power districts, co-ops, and municipal providers
- Structure and negotiate power supply agreements, purchase power agreements, facilities extension agreements, interconnection arrangements, and service terms
- Evaluate power pricing, load curtailment and demand response opportunities, and market exposure across regions
- Track regulatory, tariff, and market developments in ERCOT, MISO, NPPD, SPP, and other target markets
Infrastructure Development
- Oversee greenfield development from site control through energization, coordinating engineers, contractors, and utility partners
- Manage development budgets, timelines, and capital deployment for new sites
- Partner with operations to optimize the cost, reliability, and uptime of owned sites
Community & Stakeholder Relationships
- Build lasting relationships with local officials, economic development groups, landowners, and community leaders
- Serve as Fortitude’s face in the communities where we operate, with a reputation for transparency and follow-through
Leadership & Strategy
- Work with the Executive Leadership Team (“ELT”) team to define site and power strategy
- Build a culture of trust and open communication between the people in the executive team and the people on the site floor
- Total self-starter with a player/coach mentality. Build and lead a development team as the company grows
- Support investor and capital-markets conversations on the power portfolio and development pipeline if required
Relevant Experience
- 8+ years in power markets, utility relations, energy development, or infrastructure development
- Deep knowledge of Midwest power markets, with direct experience working with NPPD, SPP, or comparable public power entities
- Experience in ERCOT is a strong plus
- Track record of structuring and closing deals with utilities, such as power purchase agreements, interconnection agreements, or large-load service arrangements
- Experience acquiring land or real assets, ideally near substations or other grid infrastructure
- Proven ability to build trust with landowners, local officials, and rural communities
- Experience leading projects from origination through energization
- Familiarity with large-load, data center, or crypto mining development is a plus
- Experience in digital asset mining or high-density compute infrastructure is a plus
- Strong understanding of rate structures and modeling power agreements
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering (electrical, mechanical, or civil), Energy, Business, Finance, or a related field
- MBA, JD, or a master’s in a related discipline is a plus but not required
- Equivalent hands-on experience in power and infrastructure development will be considered in place of formal education
