Fortra is seeking a skilled Product Test Engineer III to join our quality assurance team. This role will focus on ensuring the reliability, functionality, and performance of our software products through advanced automated testing practices. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively within a cross-functional Agile team to develop, maintain, and execute comprehensive test strategies, contributing to the delivery of high-quality software solutions.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Design, develop, and maintain automated test scripts using frameworks like Cypress and/or Playwright to validate web-based applications.
  • Collaborate with development teams to integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Perform API testing using tools like Postman or REST Assured to ensure robust integration and functionality.
  • Conduct performance, regression, and integration testing to validate software quality and reliability.
  • Utilize Git for version control, including branching, merging, and pull request processes.
  • Debug and troubleshoot test failures, providing detailed analysis and reporting to resolve issues efficiently.
  • Apply testing best practices, including Behavior-Driven Development (BDD) and data-driven testing, to create reusable and maintainable test cases.
  • Communicate test results and technical concepts effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance testing processes and tools.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • QA Automation Expertise:
    • Solid experience with automated testing frameworks, specifically Cypress and/or Playwright.
    • Strong understanding of browser-based test automation tools and their functionality.
    • Proven ability to write, maintain, and troubleshoot automated test scripts.
  • JavaScript Fundamentals:
    • Working knowledge of JavaScript, particularly for writing and maintaining test cases.
    • Understanding of asynchronous behavior in JavaScript-based applications.
  • Version Control and DevOps:
    • Proficient in Git, including branching, merging, and pull request workflows.
    • Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, Jenkins, Azure DevOps).
  • Testing Practices:
    • Experience with API testing tools such as Postman or REST Assured.
    • Familiarity with performance, regression, and integration testing methodologies.
    • Knowledge of testing best practices, including writing reusable test cases and applying test design strategies (e.g., BDD, data-driven testing).
  • General Skills:
    • Strong debugging and analytical skills to identify and resolve issues effectively.
    • Excellent communication and documentation skills for clear reporting and collaboration.
    • Ability to work in a cross-functional Agile team environment.
    • Self-driven with a mindset for continuous learning and process improvement.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • File Transfer Protocols:
    • Familiarity with FTP, FTPS, SFTP, PeSIT, HTTPS, and AS2/AS4 protocols.
    • Understanding of file transfer automation workflows, security concerns, and error handling.
  • Cloud Technologies:
    • Exposure to AWS and/or Azure services.
    • Basic understanding of cloud infrastructure concepts, including storage, networking, and IAM.
  • Additional Experience:
    • Familiarity with additional testing tools or frameworks.
    • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
