Associate Producer

Fortune is looking for an associate producer to join its video team. As an associate producer, you will be part of a team of journalists creating compelling business storytelling through video. 

Top candidates for this position will have experience in video journalism, as well as demonstrate skills shooting, scripting, and editing video. Those in the role juggle many tasks and will be expected to pitch, develop, research and report stories, as well as support senior level producers on bigger stories. Production will be both in the studio and in the field. You will also work collaboratively with newsroom reporters and editors across a range of coverage areas.  

Strong news judgement, audio and video production experience, and superb communication skills are critical for this role. Scriptwriting experience is a must-have for this role. Outside of the video team, you will work closely with the events team and reporters in the newsroom. As the associate producer of these stories, you will collaborate closely with other members of the video team, as well as hosts, to create a best-in-class final product.
 
The position is based in our New York City office and reports to the Deputy Head of Video. You will: 

• Pitch, develop, research, report and write original videos 

• Shoot and edit videos in-studio and in the field 

• Work on stories in various stages of production 

• Find creative ways to develop stories from the various places Fortune produces its journalism, including conferences. 

• Produce social videos off of longer videos 

• Help with day-to-day story elements, including: planning, scripting, production, and budgeting 

• Package content across Fortune’s numerous distribution channels. 

• The role requires strong communication skills and will involve collaborative work across the newsroom. 

• Complete additional duties as assigned. 
   

You have: 

• Producers with 1-3 years of production experience within a news media outlet, digital media outlet preferred 

• Passionate about business news and current events 

• A strong storyteller with experience reporting high-quality, original field production. 

• Experience writing scripts and headlines, as well as packaging shows. 

• Ability to collaborate with newsroom leaders and reporters. 

• Ability to work well with others in a highly collaborative environment  

• Excellent time management skills and ability to balance priorities across multiple projects. 

• Working knowledge of both Sony and Canon cameras preferred. 

• Experience with Adobe Suite, specifically with Premiere and basic knowledge of After Effects, Photoshop and Illustrator. 

Location: This role will be based in NYC. There will be a minimum of 4 days/week in the office.

Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000. This range is a good faith estimate and may ultimately vary based on a number of relevant factors.
