Purpose: The Facilities Associate is part of the Facilities Department, and is responsible for performing repairs, preventative maintenance, and improvement projects at one or more assigned facilities. The Facilities Associate will work on various systems, including HVAC, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and grounds maintenance. The Facilities Associate will work under the direction of the Facilities Manager, and will have opportunities for on-the-job training and formal professional development. This role furthers the mission of Foundation Academies by providing a clean and safe learning environment for students and staff members.

Salary: $45,000-$67,500

Essential Duties:

  • Conducts daily walk-throughs in each building to identify any emergent safety concerns, as well  as other items requiring attention. 
  • Reviews and/or assists in the preparation of all specifications for quote and/or bid in areas  related to facilities and grounds. 
  • Responds to all facilities’ tickets through the online facilities management system, SchoolDudes, in a timely fashion, prioritizing emergent  safety concerns first. 
  • When necessary, makes recommendation to the CEO for obtaining a licensed  professional vendor to complete major or specialized maintenance or repairs. 
  • Knowledge of and skills in operation of common tools and materials used in school buildings and public safety maintenance.  
  • Schedules and facilitates, in cooperation with the Principals, the use of facilities by school and  community organizations. Performs set up and clean up as required for school-wide events. 
  • Monitors and responds to all security alarm events and facility emergencies, being available on a  flexible schedule as needed. 
  • Participates in all summer facility planning meetings and coordinates the setup of classrooms  and common areas for the start of school under the direction of the Operations Manager. 
  • Coordinates AHERA compliance. 
  • Ensures that the buildings are ready for required fire inspections. 
  • Coordinate a variety of school activities; furniture and equipment arrangements
  • Coordinate and maintain the safety and security of the employees and the property
  • Conduct inventory and ordering the type of materials, equipment, and supplies to be used/needed
  • Facilitate and assist in implementation of facility policies and procedures  and recommend improvements as appropriate. 
  • Inspect school facilities and reporting any repairs/maintenance that needs to be conducted
  • Perform routine preventative maintenance tasks on heating, electrical, air conditioning and water equipment, unless a licensed professional is required.
  • Prepare written and electronic materials/reports; work orders, requisitions, inspection records, supplies, etc.
  • Respond to immediate safety and/or operational concerns: facility damage, injured and ill students, unauthorized persons, alarms, etc.

Qualifications

  • NJ Black Seal License a plus
  • You preferably have 2+ years experience working in a school setting
  • Ability to perform the physical requirements of the job
  • Possession of a valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation
