What will you be doing?
Arrival and Dismissal Assistance:
- Support the safe and timely arrival and dismissal of students.
- Direct driveway and street traffic during dismissal for safety and efficiency.
- Perform outdoor duties in all weather conditions during arrival and dismissal.
Teacher Support:
- Assist teachers with non-instructional needs such as making copies and preparing classroom materials.
- Provide additional non-instructional support throughout the school day as needed.
Student Supervision:
- Monitor hallways to ensure students are safe and in compliance with school expectations.
- Supervise students during lunch and recess, maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
Administrative Support:
- Support the Main Office with general administrative tasks as needed.
School Culture:
- Demonstrate and model the values of caring, respect, responsibility, and honesty.
- Foster a safe, supportive, and welcoming school environment for all scholars and staff
What do we require from you?
- 2+ years of experience in school safety, security, or first responder roles preferred
- Crowd Control and Traffic Control experience preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Basic computer literacy and proficiency with Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail, Drive, Calendar)
- CPR/AED certification or willingness to obtain within 60 days of hire
- Valid SORA License preferred (or willingness to obtain based on assignment)
- Valid NJ driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Ability to walk or stand for extended periods of time (85% or more of the workday)
- Experience working in a school setting or with youth in a supervisory capacity strongly preferred
- Strong communication, problem-solving, and conflict-resolution skills
- Demonstrated commitment to maintaining a safe, inclusive, and non-discriminatory learning environment
- Familiarity with or willingness to be trained in non-violent crisis intervention (e.g., CPI or similar)
- Ability to manage time effectively and multitask in a dynamic school environment
- Ability to perform outdoor duties in all weather conditions
- Semifinalist candidates will be required to provide unofficial transcripts, evidence of certification/eligibility, and 3 professional references.
- Hired candidates are responsible for the following: official transcripts, criminal clearance (fingerprinting), and medical clearance (TB/Mantoux testing).
