What will you be doing?
- Design and deliver standards-aligned strings lessons that develop technical proficiency, musical expression, and ensemble performance skills.
- Facilitate hands-on rehearsal experiences that encourage exploration of tone, rhythm, phrasing, and dynamics, while strengthening communication and collaboration.
- Create a structured, inclusive, and welcoming classroom and rehearsal environment that promotes belonging, teamwork, and engagement.
- Model strong emotional intelligence, communication, and interpersonal skills to support a positive classroom culture and community building.
- Manage rehearsal space, instruments, and materials to ensure safe, equitable access to high-quality music resources.
- Assess student progress using formative and summative measures and provide timely, actionable feedback to support skill development and performance growth.
- Engage in ongoing professional learning to refine instructional practices and strengthen strings curriculum and pedagogy.
- Design lessons and select repertoire that reflects cultural diversity and affirms the identities and experiences of all scholars.
- Collaborate with special education staff, support teams, and instructional leaders to provide accommodations and ensure inclusive access to strings instruction.
- Participate in family engagement initiatives and schoolwide events that strengthen communication between home and school and showcase student performances.
What do we require from you?
- Bachelor’s degree in Art Education or a related art field.
- Valid New Jersey certification in Art (appropriate grade-level endorsement).
- Demonstrated success delivering standards-aligned art instruction that engages students and supports growth.
- At least 2 years of experience teaching art in an urban school setting preferred.
- Proven ability to support diverse learners through inclusive, differentiated instructional practices.
- Commitment to professional growth, collaboration, and culturally responsive, anti-discriminatory teaching aligned to the school’s mission.
