Marketing Analyst - Commercial Lines

Foundation Risk Partners, one of the fastest growing insurance brokerage and consulting firms in the US, is adding a Marketing Analyst to their team in Orange, CA. 

Job Summary:

The Marketing Analyst is responsible for the marketing, placement, and negotiation of commercial insurance programs for both new and renewal business. This position partners closely with Producers, Account Managers, carrier underwriters, and leadership to develop effective marketing strategies, evaluate coverage options, negotiate terms and pricing, and secure competitive insurance solutions for clients.  The Marketing Analyst serves as a subject matter expert on carrier markets, coverage structures, and underwriting requirements while supporting client retention and new business growth initiatives. This role exercises independent judgment in analyzing coverage options, developing marketing recommendations, and facilitating the placement of middle-market and complex commercial insurance accounts.

Essential Functions:

Marketing and Placement

  • Develop and execute marketing strategies for new and renewal commercial insurance opportunities.
  • Market accounts directly with insurance carriers, wholesalers, and specialty markets.
  • Analyze quotations, underwriting requirements, coverage options, and carrier proposals.
  • Negotiate pricing, terms, conditions, and coverage enhancements with insurance carriers.
  • Evaluate carrier appetites and identify appropriate markets based on client exposures and business objectives.
  • Review coverage forms, endorsements, and policy provisions to ensure alignment with client needs.
  • Assist in the placement of complex property and casualty insurance programs.

Proposal Development

  • Prepare professional proposals, market comparisons, and coverage analyses.
  • Develop side-by-side carrier comparisons highlighting pricing, coverage differences, and recommendations.
  • Prepare underwriting submissions, applications, loss summaries, and supplemental documentation.
  • Assist Producers and Account Managers with presentations and client strategy discussions.

Account Support and Collaboration

  • Partner with Producers and Account Managers throughout the new business and renewal process.
  • Provide market intelligence and carrier guidance to internal teams.
  • Participate in renewal strategy discussions and marketing planning meetings.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with insurance company underwriters and wholesale brokers.
  • Support agency growth initiatives by identifying opportunities to improve coverage, pricing, and overall client value.

Systems and Documentation

  • Maintain accurate client, carrier, and marketing activity records within Applied Epic.
  • Ensure all marketing activities comply with agency procedures and documentation standards.
  • Maintain accurate submission records, carrier correspondence, and proposal documentation.
  • Support internal compliance and quality control requirements.

Business Development Support

  • Assist with identifying and pursuing opportunities to expand client relationships.
  • Monitor insurance market trends, carrier appetite changes, and industry developments.
  • Provide recommendations that support client retention and profitable growth objectives.

Competencies & Qualifications: 

  • Active California Property & Casualty License or ability to obtain within a specified period following hire.
  • Minimum of 5 years of commercial insurance experience.
  • Experience marketing and placing commercial insurance accounts.
  • Experience working with insurance carriers, underwriters, and wholesale brokers.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of commercial insurance products, coverages, and underwriting practices.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial property and casualty insurance products and coverages.
  • Understanding of underwriting principles and carrier marketing practices.
  • Ability to analyze complex insurance programs and coverage structures.
  • Strong negotiation and relationship management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a high level of accuracy.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical capabilities.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across departments and offices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Proficiency in Applied Epic preferred.

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, or related field.
  • 7+ years of commercial lines insurance experience.
  • Professional designation such as CPCU, CIC, CRM, ARM, or CISR.
  • Experience supporting middle-market and complex commercial insurance accounts.
  • Advanced proposal development and coverage comparison experience.
  • Experience utilizing Applied Epic agency management system.

This range represents the estimated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to performance, location, and experience. The range listed is just one component of FRP's total compensation package for employees.

Pay Transparency Range

$125,000 - $175,000 USD
