
Receptionist (On-Call)
Nestled in San Francisco's Excelsior neighborhood on a nine-acre campus, the San Francisco Campus for Jewish Living (SFCJL) is a center of excellence in providing a continuum of care. Position Summary
The Assisted Living (AL) Receptionist serves as the welcoming face of our community — greeting and directing visitors, answering telephone and in-person inquiries, screening visitors, and managing mail and parcel deliveries. This role plays a vital part in maintaining smooth daily operations and creating a positive first impression for residents, families, and guests.
Essential Functions
- Answer all phone calls promptly and connect callers to appropriate residents or staff.
- Provide exceptional customer service to residents and visitors entering the community.
- Screen and verify all visitors to ensure community safety.
- Serve as liaison with parking attendants, staff, visitors, and Plant Operations.
- Act as liaison with the Fire and Police Departments and relevant internal departments during emergencies.
- Coordinate staff and security responses to elopement or personal emergency response (PERS) alarms.
- Manage incoming and outgoing mail and parcels, including certified and registered mail.
- Maintain the community’s switchboard and communication log.
- Perform other duties as assigned to support operations and resident satisfaction.
JOB DETAILS
- Pay Rate: $23 - $25/hr, depending on experience
- Schedule: On-call
- Shift Options:
- 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM
- 3:30 PM - 7:30 PM
This role provides coverage for call-offs and vacation needs.
Please note: this is a non-benefitted position.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; two years of college-level business courses preferred.
- Associate degree in business or related field strongly preferred.
- Minimum two (2) years of administrative or receptionist experience.
- One (1) year of experience with multi-line phone systems and hand-held radios.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) with professional, customer-focused demeanor.
- Strong ability to build rapport with residents, visitors, and team members.
- Ability to read, write, and follow instructions in English.
- Must be able to sit for long periods and work a flexible schedule as needed.
