Junior COTS Integration Engineer

We are seeking a highly motivated Junior COTS (Commercial Off-The-Shelf) Integration Engineer. This role will involve addressing software and data integrations across all system components, including legacy systems and COTS products, to ensure seamless operation within a mission-critical system environment. 

  • Key Responsibilities: 
  • COTS/GOTS Software Integration & Support:  
  • Integration, installation, configuration, upgrading, compiling, and supporting COTS/GOTS software (e.g., TeamMate+, Power BI, CMTS, OIS) in a mission-critical system environment. 
  • Support and maintain software in an operating system environment, including Windows. 
  • Software Development & Maintenance:  
  • Develop pre-release software, identify defects, and define software changes to resolve errors. 
  • Maintain applications to ensure continuous service delivery to customers. 
  • Research & Integration of New COTS Products:  
  • Lead the research, selection, and integration of new COTS products into existing decision support tools, enabling consistent information flow and "Single Sign-On" functionality. 
  • Infrastructure & Database Administration:  
  • Install and configure Apache Tomcat (TOMCAT9, TOMCAT10) and Apache24. 
  • Upgrade applications such as TeamMate+ and Power BI Report Server (with versions Jan 2024, Sep 2024, and Jan 2025). 
  • Monitor and troubleshoot SQL Server schemas, perform database error diagnostics, and administer SQL Server databases. 
  • Perform patch upgrades and install software updates, following Software Central processes. 
  • Collaboration & Communication:  
  • Collaborate with government personnel to plan, support, and maintain physical and technical infrastructure. 
  • Communicate with vendors/third-party support to resolve issues and ensure software functionality. 
  • Communicate goals and requirements for each software release to the development team and ensure progress toward delivery. 
  • Software Deployment & Testing:  
  • Plan and execute software deployment, scheduling outages in consultation with customers, and ensuring proper communication before, during, and after the deployment. 
  • Prepare test plans, execute test codes for software characterization, and validate successful trouble resolution. 
  • Convene test readiness reviews with customers, present functionality for User Acceptance Testing (UAT), and obtain approval to proceed with releases. 
  • Documentation & Troubleshooting:  
  • Create and maintain detailed technical and configuration documentation for systems and enterprise tools. 
  • Troubleshoot complex issues, leveraging expert understanding of systems to diagnose and resolve problems effectively. 
  • Coordinate the deployment process with developers and customers, ensuring smooth execution. 
  • Project Management & Customer Collaboration:  
  • Gather and understand customer requirements and project scope for system, application, upgrade, maintenance, or sustainment. 
  • Establish project timelines and confirm customer prioritization of requirements. 
  • Identify dependencies and assumptions, ensuring mutual understanding with the customer. 
  • Assess COTS/GOTS products, comparing them with custom solutions, considering factors such as costs, development labor, deployment timeframes, vendor support, and ongoing maintenance. 
  • Performance Monitoring & System Recovery:  
  • Monitor and ensure the availability, performance, and recoverability of all resources, applications, servers, databases, and networks. 

 

Required: 

  • TS/SCI with Polygraph 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field from an accredited college or university and one (1) year of demonstrable experience is required. Four (4) years of additional technical experience on projects with similar hardware/software processes may be substituted for a bachelor’s degree
  • An industry recognized professional certification, as defined in the TTOs, may substitute as one (1) year experience. A Master's Degree in a technical field may substitute for two (2) years' experience. 
  • One (1) year of providing support in developing/engineering of complex software/hardware systems. Collaborate with other team members to diagnose problems and implement effective solutions. Provide input to system documentation, technical reports and provide routine status updates. The Associate Engineer supports the entire application life cycle focused on meeting government requirements. 
  • Willingness to learn new technologies
  • Experience developing and updating technical documentation

  • Experience with Windows System Administration (IIS, Windows Firewall/Defender) 
  • Test/Dev Tools
  • Experience with Java

The estimated salary range for this position is between $120,000-$150,000 (annualized USD). This range reflects the typical pay for the role and is one part of the company's comprehensive compensation package. Actual salaries are influenced by several factors, such as location, the individual’s education, skills, experience, and competencies, as well as contract affordability and organizational needs.
