At Freenome, we are seeking a Vice President, Marketing as a key member of our rapidly developing commercial team. The ideal candidate will be a strategic leader with hands-on experience and demonstrated success developing and leading high-performance marketing organizations in the speciality diagnostics industry. This role will be accountable for setting and executing commercial strategies that drive successful product positioning, awareness, education, and clinical adoption. This role offers a unique opportunity to build the marketing infrastructure needed to ensure our customers are aware, educated, and informed about this game-changing early disease detection technology and its seamless integration into clinical practice.

In this role, you will be instrumental in bridging the gap between Freenome’s cutting-edge science and its practical application in physician offices and health systems, ultimately maximizing patient adoption for our life-saving tests. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will contribute to guiding and refining company-level strategy. Your commitment to patient care and access will significantly contribute to our growth and our mission to outpace cancer with early detection.

This role will report to the Chief Commercial Officer and will serve as a vital part of the Commercial Leadership Team. This is an onsite or hybrid role with the requirement to travel up to 10% of the time. 

What you’ll do:

Marketing Strategy & Execution

  • Accountable for the marketing strategy and seamless execution for Freenome products and solutions in alignment with corporate goals and commercial targets.
  • Conduct deep market analyses to segment, prioritize, and understand key customer and patient audiences to develop and execute a comprehensive, integrated marketing plan across Health Systems, Physicians, and Patients:
    • Health Systems/Payers: In close partnership with the Medical organization, develop evidence-based materials and programs focused on clinical utility, health economics, and integration into existing care pathways.
    • Physicians: Design educational campaigns, peer-to-peer programs, and materials to drive test ordering and clinical confidence.
    • Patients: Oversee the development of patient education and awareness campaigns to empower individuals and drive conversations with their providers about early screening.
  • Drive the creation and implementation of comprehensive marketing strategies that clearly communicate the value proposition and differentiated messaging for our diagnostic tests across all key stakeholder audiences.
  • Lead the development of a robust digital marketing strategy, including web presence, social media, and educational content to support the patient and physician journey.
  • Establish a data-driven approach for the receipt and application of key customer and patient feedback that guides execution to meet and exceed their requirements and achieve business objectives.

Organizational Impact

  • Establish and regularly monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and utilize analytics to regularly assess campaign performance, measure ROI, and continuously improve programs.
  • Proactively partner with Sales, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Operations to ensure alignment across the commercial organization, supporting product launch and early commercialization efforts.
  • Provide essential market intelligence, competitive analysis, customer feedback, and market trends to inform product development, market access, and commercial strategy.
  • Build and maintain relationships with key opinion leaders, major health systems, and high-value customers.

Team Building & Leadership

  • Build and grow a team of high-performance, experienced marketers capable of navigating complex commercial landscapes and driving adoption within large health systems and physician practices.
  • Coach and develop the team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and deep customer focus.
  • Oversee the annual marketing budget, ensuring effective allocation of resources to high-impact initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted and key contributor to Freenome's Commercial Leadership Team, the commercial organization, Senior Leadership Team, and the rapidly developing broader organization.

Must haves:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a business, life sciences, or related field; MBA or PhD strongly preferred.
  • 15+ years of prior relevant experience across marketing, sales, and/or managed care, preferably within the molecular diagnostics or precision diagnostics industry.
  • 10+ years of experience in marketing leadership with direct responsibility for building and leading high-performance marketing organizations.
  • In-depth knowledge of the healthcare ecosystem, including clinical workflows, customer types (HCPs, patients, IDNs) and their business models.
  • Experience in cancer or preventive screening, primary care, oncology, preventive health and/or consumer sectors.
  • Familiarity with in vitro diagnostic devices and/or centralized laboratory developed tests.
  • Proven success building and executing comprehensive marketing strategies integrated marketing plans to drive measurable outcomes to achieve performance targets.
  • Passion for getting in the trenches through hands-on leadership to build and grow marketing teams from the ground up.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset and proactive and practical approach to problem-solving.
  • Leads with a data-orientation to drive decisions, identify new opportunities, and foster continuous improvement for optimal results.
  • Strong planning and cross-functional partnership skills with demonstrated experience managing complex projects across the organization.
  • Proven ability to operate in absolute compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

Nice to haves:

  • Experience launching an In Vitro Diagnostic device for use by clinicians.
  • Prior experience in a high-growth healthcare or biotech environment bringing their first product to market.

Benefits and additional information:

The US target range of our base salary for new hires is $253,725 - $401,500. You will also be eligible to receive pre-IPO equity, cash bonuses, and a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits depending on the position offered.  Please note that individual total compensation for this position will be determined at the Company’s sole discretion and may vary based on several factors, including but not limited to, location, skill level, years and depth of relevant experience, and education.
