Controller – India (Surat, Gujarat) | Multifamily Real Estate & Restaurant Industry

Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Controller to lead the financial operations of our Surat, Gujarat office. This role is designed for a high-caliber finance professional who will oversee financial reporting, compliance, budgeting, and internal controls while actively supporting the company’s growth and revenue expansion strategies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, technical expertise in financial management, and a proactive approach to process optimization. As a key financial leader, the Controller will ensure compliance with both Indian and US financial regulations, maintain financial accuracy, and support strategic decision-making. Key Responsibilities:

Financial Reporting & Compliance:

  • Oversee accurate and timely financial reporting in compliance with Indian and US financial regulations, including GAAP, Companies Act, and SEBI guidelines.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including tax filings, audits, and corporate governance standards.
  • Monitor internal controls to safeguard financial integrity and prevent risks related to fraud, misstatements, or inefficiencies.

Strategic Financial Management & Revenue Expansion:

  • Collaborate with operations teams to analyze revenue streams, optimize costs, and identify new financial opportunities.
  • Support financial planning, cash flow forecasting, and capital allocation to enhance business performance.

Budgeting & Forecasting:

  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis to ensure accurate financial planning and cost control.
  • Provide detailed financial insights and recommendations to drive operational efficiency and maximize returns.
  • Track KPIs and financial performance metrics, identifying opportunities for improvement.

Treasury & Cash Flow Management:

  • Oversee cash flow management, ensuring adequate liquidity for business operations.
  • Manage banking relationships to optimize financing structures and capital investments.
  • Monitor and evaluate funding strategies, credit facilities, and debt management plans.

Operational & Process Optimization:

  • Implement financial process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and scalability.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to streamline financial operations and reporting frameworks.
  • Ensure effective risk management practices are in place to support financial health and long-term stability.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Mentor and develop a high-performing finance team, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to align financial goals with business strategy.
  • Drive best practices in financial governance, cost optimization, and reporting accuracy.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field (MBA or CPA preferred).
  • Minimum of 6-10 years of progressive experience in financial management, with at least 3-5 years in a senior finance role.
  • Prior experience in multifamily real estate and/or restaurant finance is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of both Indian and US financial and accounting markets.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in US GAAP, Yardi, GP (Great Plains), and advanced Excel (including Macros & Financial Modeling).
  • Strong knowledge of Indian tax laws, SEBI regulations, and international financial standards.
  • Experience with financial management software and ERP systems.

Leadership & Professional Skills:

  • Proven leadership experience in managing finance teams and cross-functional collaboration.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, family-owned business environment.
  • Strong finance-based problem-solving and analytical skills.

Work Requirements:

  • Based in Surat, Gujarat, or open to relocation.
  • Willingness to travel as needed to support business operations.
  • Flexible work schedule, including extended hours and weekends based on business needs.
