Engineering Manager / Senior Engineering Manager

Denver, Colorado

Frontera Health is revolutionizing pediatric healthcare by developing a cutting-edge, tech-enabled platform that delivers essential therapies to rural families. Our platform leverages AI/ML to create a robust video-based data model for early intervention and developmental disorders. By collaborating closely with parents, caregivers, and clinical partners, we’re bridging the gap in access to care, improving health equity, and providing personalized treatment plans. Backed by leading investors like Lightspeed and Lux, Frontera Health is poised for rapid growth.

Our ABA direct services are designed to meet the unique needs of children in underserved communities, providing them with the support and resources they require to reach their full potential. We are passionate about ensuring that every child, regardless of their location or socioeconomic status, has access to high-quality healthcare. By leveraging our technology platform and partnering with local providers, we are able to deliver effective ABA therapy to families who may otherwise have limited access to these essential services.

The Role

We are looking for a mission-driven Engineering Manager or Senior Engineering Manager to join our growing team and lead the continued development of our clinician and caregiver-facing platform. This is a key leadership role that combines team management, cross-functional collaboration, and technical execution.

As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for leading a team of 3–6 engineers, shaping engineering culture and practices, and ensuring timely and high-quality delivery of software that directly impacts families and care providers. You’ll also work closely with product, design, and operations counterparts to drive alignment and execution across the organization. As we scale, we plan to roughly double the size of this engineering team over the rest of the year, and you’ll play a key role in helping us grow thoughtfully and sustainably.

While this is primarily a people and delivery management role, we value leaders who remain technically grounded. You should be comfortable diving into architecture and code when needed to support the team or unblock progress.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & People Management

    • Hire, coach, and develop a high-performing team of engineers
    • Conduct regular 1:1s, performance reviews, and career development plans
    • Foster a culture of trust, accountability, and continuous improvement

  • Technical Execution & Oversight

    • Guide architecture and implementation discussions, ensuring systems are scalable, maintainable, and secure
    • Support technical planning and prioritization in collaboration with tech leads and senior engineers
    • Roll up sleeves occasionally to help troubleshoot, review code, or provide architectural guidance

  • Cross-Functional Delivery

    • Partner closely with Product and Design to define roadmaps, set priorities, and ship features
    • Coordinate efforts across our US and India-based engineering teams
    • Ensure clarity, alignment, and transparency in planning and execution

  • Process and Operations

    • Improve engineering processes and tools to support high-velocity development
    • Track and report on key metrics for engineering health, velocity, and quality
Own delivery timelines and resource planning for your team

  • Customer and Mission Focus

    • Advocate for caregiver and clinician end-users through thoughtful, practical engineering decisions
Stay focused on delivering meaningful impact for children and families

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of professional software engineering experience, ideally with experience in both frontend and backend development
  • 2+ years of experience in an engineering management or tech lead role with direct reports
  • Proven ability to build, coach, and retain a high-performing team
Strong technical background and the ability to engage in architecture and code reviews when needed
  • Experience in fast-paced, startup-style environments and greenfield product development
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills; able to drive clarity and alignment across distributed teams
  • Strong project management skills; able to run planning, retrospectives, and execution tracking
  • Passion for building impactful products and solving real problems for underserved communities
  • Bonus: Experience with AI/ML products, healthcare, or telehealth systems

Why Frontera Health?

  • Join a team at the forefront of innovation in pediatric healthcare
  • Work on meaningful, high-impact projects with cutting-edge AI/ML technologies
  • Collaborate with talented colleagues in a fast-paced, purpose-driven environment
