Background Check Requirement

As part of our hiring process, Frontline Wildfire Defense conducts comprehensive background checks for all new hires. These checks typically cover the past 7–10 years and may include employment and education verification. For roles that require work in the field, driving record verification is also required. Employment offers are contingent upon the successful completion of these background checks.

About Frontline Wildfire Defense

Founded in 2017 by landscape ecologist and fire mitigation expert Harry Statter, Frontline developed the first fully integrated wildfire defense system to stop the leading cause of home loss in wildfires: ember-driven ignition. The system combines exterior sprinklers, full-coverage design, and connected software for remote monitoring and response, allowing homes to protect themselves long after families evacuate or infrastructure fails.

Proven effective during the 2025 Los Angeles wildfires, 96% of homes with Frontline systems survived. That success has earned top industry recognition, including Frontline being recognized as one of TIME’s Best Inventions 2025 in the Green Tech category and receiving the PCBC Gold Nugget Award for “Most Innovative Housing Concept” and the Best of IBS Award for “Best Home Technology.”

As wildfires grow hotter and more frequent, our vision is to give people the tools and strategies to live safely with fire. We’re building a mission-driven team creating real-world solutions in wildfire safety and climate tech.

About This Opportunity

As a Senior FP&A Analyst at Frontline, you will own the financial models, the 13-week cash flow, and the consolidated reporting that gives leadership a real picture of where the business stands and where it's headed. Frontline operates across multiple entities with three distinct revenue models - milestone-based construction installations, hardware sales, and recurring software subscriptions - each with its own financial dynamics. Pulling that picture together accurately, and communicating it clearly, is the job.

Reporting to the VP of Finance, you will build and maintain the models, own the cash flow forecast, and synthesize data across multiple systems into the KPIs and analysis that drive decisions. This is not a role for someone who runs a model and reports the output. The right person understands the inputs deeply enough to know when the model is missing something - and has the expertise and intellectual rigor to catch it before it reaches leadership.

We use AI tools to accelerate the development of financial models and analysis. What we need from you is not the ability to prompt an AI - it's the financial expertise to know when the output is wrong, what data it didn't account for, and what questions to ask to get it right. That kind of critical thinking, grounded in deep financial knowledge, is what separates meaningful analysis from a fast first draft.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Modeling

  • Build, own, and maintain financial models across revenue, expenses, headcount, and capital - including models that span multiple entities and revenue streams.
  • Develop scenario models and sensitivity analysis that give leadership clear visibility into the financial impact of operational and strategic decisions.
  • Design models that are structurally sound, well-documented, and built to be used and understood by others - not black boxes.

Cash Flow Forecasting

  • Own the 13-week cash flow forecast for a multi-entity company - building it, maintaining it, and communicating what it shows and why it matters.
  • Identify cash flow risks and opportunities proactively, and work with the VP of Finance and Controller to ensure the business has visibility and options.
  • Reconcile forecast to actuals and refine the model over time to improve accuracy and usefulness.

Consolidated Reporting & KPIs

  • Pull, organize, and consolidate financial and operational data across multiple systems and entities to produce accurate, reliable KPI dashboards and management reporting packages.
  • Own the monthly and quarterly financial reporting packages for leadership, including budget-to-actual variance analysis with clear, concise commentary.
  • Build and maintain the consolidated P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow views that reflect the full picture of the business.

Budgeting & Forecasting

  • Lead the annual budgeting process in partnership with the VP of Finance, coordinating with department leaders to build a bottoms-up plan that reflects operational reality.
  • Maintain rolling forecasts that update as the business evolves, flagging material changes to leadership quickly.
  • Support long-range financial planning and investor-related analysis as needed.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Partner with the Controller and accounting team to ensure FP&A models are grounded in accurate actuals and that the reporting layer reflects what's in the ledger.
  • Work directly with department leaders to understand their cost drivers, headcount plans, and operational changes - translating those into the financial model.
  • Support the VP of Finance on ad hoc analysis, board materials, and investor reporting.

Qualifications

Must-Have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field
  • 5+ years of FP&A experience, with demonstrated ownership of financial models in a complex, multi-entity or multi-revenue-stream business
  • Hands-on experience building, owning, and communicating a 13-week cash flow forecast - not just contributing to one, but owning it end to end
  • Proven ability to pull and organize data across multiple systems and entities to produce consolidated KPIs, dashboards, and management reports
  • Strong financial modeling skills: Excel and/or Google Sheets mastery, with models built for clarity, accuracy, and auditability
  • The analytical rigor to validate model outputs - knowing what questions to ask, what data might be missing, and when a number doesn't make sense
  • Ability to communicate financial results and insights clearly to non-finance audiences, including executives
  • Comfortable operating in ambiguity and building processes where limited ones exist

Nice-to-Have

  • MBA or CPA (active or inactive)
  • Experience in a high-growth startup, venture-backed company, or climate tech business
  • Background in construction, hardware, or SaaS business models - or a company running all three simultaneously
  • Experience with FP&A platforms such as Pigment, Planful, or Mosaic
  • Familiarity with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or NetSuite
  • Experience supporting board reporting, fundraising diligence, or investor relations
  • Exposure to multi-state operations, intercompany eliminations, or consolidation accounting

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive salary: $110,000 - $135,000 DOE
  • Company-provided cell phone and laptop
  • Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance
  • 401(k) retirement plan
  • Flexible time off + 14 paid holidays (yes, your birthday is one of them!)
  • Work-from-home stipend to support your remote setup
  • Remote-first work environment, fostering work-life balance and autonomy
  • Company-provided equipment
  • Join a high-performing, mission-driven team doing work that truly matters
  •  And much more!
