Post-Production and Finishing Lead - Brooklyn Navy Yards

This is an exciting and highly visible position that plays an important role in shaping, supporting, and monitoring the future of Schumacher’s manufacturing operation.

Hours are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm Monday - Friday with potential for Overtime

Hourly Pay Rate: $20 to $22 Hour

YOU WILL:

Post-production oversight

  • Take the lead role in day-to-day post-production duties, primarily cutting and finishing, to ensure maximum accuracy and efficiency; delegate tasks and communicate priorities to other cutters

Structural improvements within post-production

  • Implement improved processes for cutting, packing, and QA with the goal of preventing errors and increasing efficiency

Communication with pre-press

  • Serve as the point of contact for pre-press (i.e. pre-production and print operators) to facilitate clear communication and understanding regarding elements of the file design and print processes such as trim marks, layout specs, and materials (grounds)

Quality assurance

  • Address and solve recurring problems related to post-production that affect output; ensure that all goods that leave BNY meet the highest standards of condition and quality
  • Analyze the final products for color accuracy, consistency, and overall quality, ensuring they meet company standards and specifications
  • Identify defects, flaws, or deviations from quality standards and document findings in a clear and organized manner
  • Communicate quality issues to production teams promptly, providing feedback and suggestions for corrective actions
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, defects, and other quality metrics.
  • Collaborate with the design and production teams to establish and refine quality control processes
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and training programs to enhance product quality and production efficiency

Troubleshooting

  • Serve as the primary resource for any Fotoba-related mechanical and electrical issues; take the lead in performing and recording routine maintenance on cutting machines; delegate maintenance tasks as needed
  • Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all grounds used at BNY and respond to any inquiries (customer or internal) regarding wallcovering installation via email

JOB QUALITIES:

  • Communicate company directives (i.e. priorities, timelines, standards of accuracy/efficiency) clearly and respectfully to other cutters
  • Assume responsibility for all aspects of post-production (cutting, finishing, and QA) and serve as the primary point of contact at BNY for any related issues
  • Work regular daytime shifts to be present during prime production hours; be willing to do overtime as needed to meet production goals

YOU HAVE/ARE:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • High level of ownership, accountability and initiative
  • Proficiency in MS Office (including Excel, Outlook, Word and Access)
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and change direction based on business needs
  • Extremely detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Action oriented and enjoys working hard/smart
  • A team player, cooperative, a person who easily gains trust and supports peers
  • Has an all hands-on deck mentality, and is willing to pitch in with multiple team members
  • Able to work well with others in a fast-paced environment
