Archive Intern

FSCO maintains one of America’s largest textile and wallcovering archives, with more than 40,000 objects. The Archive Intern will support the Archivist and Archive Assistant. The primary focus of this internship is rehousing and inventorying FSCO’s wallcovering collection. Daily tasks include collecting metadata and entering it into the CMS (collections management system), as well as tagging and photographing objects. A secondary project involves scanning research files related to the collection.

Additional duties will include:

  • Assisting with research requests
  • Managing archive loans (shipping and tracking)
  • Updating archive manuals
  • Digitizing the textile collection: tagging, researching, and entering metadata in the Archive CMS

Need to have:

  • Knowledge of textile construction, history and terminology
  • Familiarity with basic photography
  • Ability to prioritize
  • Ability to lift 20-30lbs
  • Comfort with climbing on ladders
  • Familiarity with data input into a CMS
  • Strong organizational skills

Hours:

Monday-Wednesday 9:00 am - 5:00 pm

Salary Range

$18 - $20 USD
