Position Summary:
The SBOA co-op will report into the Associate Director of Strategic Business Analytics within Flagship Pioneering. This role will support the SBOA team in delivering competitive intelligence, strategic analyses, and data-driven insights for Flagship’s portfolio companies. The co-op will gain hands-on experience working across diverse biotech areas, helping shape strategy and decision-making in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
Responsibilities
- Conduct competitive intelligence research on biotech companies, therapeutic modalities, and technology platforms.
- Analyze market landscapes, pipeline data, funding trends, and clinical trial information.
- Support the development of strategic deliverables, including white space maps, indication prioritization, and competitor benchmarking.
- Organize and synthesize data into clear visual and written outputs (slides, reports, dashboards).
- Collaborate closely with SBOA team members on strategic projects that inform portfolio company growth and investment decisions.
- Present findings and recommendations to team members and contribute to shaping company strategies.
Qualifications
- Working toward a bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biotechnology, Data Science, Business, Economics, or a related field.
- Strong interest in life sciences, healthcare, or biotech strategy.
- Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint required.
- Experience with competitive intelligence tools, databases (e.g., PitchBook, clinical trial registries), or data visualization software (e.g., Tableau) is a plus but not required.
- Highly organized, adaptable, and comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-growing environment with multiple stakeholders.
- Collaborative team player with a “roll-up-your-sleeves” attitude.
