
In Vivo Pharmacology Co-Op

Position Summary:
Ampersand is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic co-op to join our in vivo team and contribute to our in vivo and ex vivo studies involving antibodies and related biological molecules. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the development of the next generation of biologics within a dynamic and entrepreneurial environment.
The successful candidate will work with his/her supervisor to design, plan, and conduct molecular biology and in vivo and ex vivo experiments to investigate the pharmacokinetics (PK), pharmacodynamics (PD), and efficacy function of our proprietary therapeutics. The successful candidate will work both independently as well as part of the team to achieve group objectives. The candidate will have the opportunity to develop a diverse skill set in molecular biology as well as in vivo and ex vivo assays. Through this experience, he or she will gain knowledge of antibody production platforms and optimization strategies as well as an introduction to the general drug development process in an industrial setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with the supervisor to plan, design, and execute experiments, analyze data, and interpret experimental results.
- Assist in surgical procedures, including dissections and collection of organs.
- Provide support for ex vivo studies to characterize the efficacy of antibodies and other molecules following in vivo experiments.
- Conduct molecular biology assays such as RNA and protein preparation, real-time PCR, ELISA, flow cytometry, and western blot, et al.
- Maintain accurate and thorough written records of laboratory procedures, results, and conclusions.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in biology, pharmacology, or a related field.
- Experience with molecular biology techniques, such as RNA and protein preparation, real-time PCR, ELISA preferred.
- Experience with basic animal husbandry, handling, and dosing by multiple routes (IV, IP, PO, IM, etc.), or a desire to learn these techniques
- Experience in blood collection (Saphenous vein, cardiac blood collection), anesthesia administration, surgical procedures, dissection techniques, and tissue collection.
- Highly motivated and a strong team player, thriving in a fast-paced, inclusive, team-oriented, and multidisciplinary environment typically found in small biotech companies.
- Good organizational skills.
- Ability to use basic Microsoft office software such as Excel and PowerPoint.
