
Pioneering Medicines: Research Co-Op
THE ROLE
We are seeking an enthusiastic and collaborative Research Co-Op that will function under the guidance and expertise of scientists in Pioneering Medicines’ Biology and Pharmacology Team. The successful candidate will help evaluate novel biological and small molecule therapeutic agents that will support the drug discovery efforts across multiple programs in metabolic diseases from target validation to identification of clinical candidates.
The candidate will work alongside Pioneering Medicines’ scientists to support all cell-based assay activities including cell culture and associated downstream assays (qPCR, ELISA, Western blotting, FACS, etc.).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Collaborate with a team of scientists and research associates to design and execute well-controlled molecular biology.
- Analyze data to clearly summarize and communicate results.
- Participate on multi-disciplinary teams and communicate results (i.e., presentations, writing reports)
- Maintain a detailed and up-to-date electronic laboratory notebook.
- Maintain detailed organization systems for samples and reagents.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE & QUALIFICATIONS
- Hands-on experience in basic lab procedures: pipetting, solution preparation, and plate assays.
- Experience with basic mammalian cell culture including hands-on knowledge of aseptic technique, passaging cells, cell counting, freezing and thawing cells, and using a biosafety cabinet.
- Strong work ethic and a passion for benchwork.
- A collaborative, team player and good lab citizen.
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Effective and proactive communication.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience or knowledge of the following are a plus (but not strictly necessary):
- Knowledge of obesity and/or associated metabolic diseases.
- Working knowledge of cell culture of primary or immortalized cells.

The salary range for this role is $20 - $40. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience. Pioneering Medicines currently offers healthcare coverage, annual incentive program, retirement benefits and a broad range of other benefits.
