Technical Development Co-Op

The Company:

Mirai Bio is seeking an innovative and enthusiastic co-op to join the Technical Development team. This role provides an excellent opportunity for a student to gain hands-on experience in the field of lipid nanoparticle (LNP) technologies, crucial for the delivery of nucleic acid-based therapeutics. They will work cross-functionally with internal groups and external labs to advance Mirai’s platform. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with leading edge, dedicated, innovative scientists in industry! 

Primary Responsibilities:

• Contribute to the development of scalable unit operations for production of mRNA/LNP products.
• Perform biochemical and biophysical testing of process intermediates using HPLC, Capillary Electrophoresis, Gel electrophoresis, and various light scattering methods and spectroscopic methods.
• Help troubleshoot manufacturing issues by conducting experiments including mRNA synthesis and purification, nanoprecipitation, bioconjugation, and ultrafiltration/diafiltration. 
• Operate laboratory instruments such as Waters and Agilent HPLC, AKTA FPLC, TFF systems, Fragment Analyzer, robotic liquid handlers, DLS, and UV-Vis plate readers.
• Collaborate with teams across the organization to advance company objectives.
• Thoroughly document results in electronic lab notebooks.
• Present findings to cross-functional teams.

Qualifications:

• B.S. or M.S. candidate in biochemistry, chemistry, chemical engineering, or a related field
• Demonstrated ability to follow procedures, safely operate laboratory instruments, and execute experiments with some supervision in an industrial biochemical laboratory
• Quick learner, motivated, organized, with attention to detail and excellent problem-solving skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Competence with MS Excel and PowerPoint

The pay range for this role is $25 - $40 per hour. This role is a short-term engagement that is not eligible for health and welfare benefits. Retirement benefits may be available after completing a set number of hours. Compensation and benefits information is based on Mirai Bio's good faith estimate as of the date of publication and may be modified in the future.
