Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated Co-Op student to join our research team and support the development and execution of disease-relevant in vitro assays. This role will provide hands-on experience in cell culture, molecular biology, and NGS techniques in a fast-paced biotech environment. The successful candidate will contribute to ongoing research programs and gain exposure to drug discovery and translational science workflows.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Perform routine mammalian cell culture, including cell maintenance, passaging, and experimental setup
Execute disease-relevant in vitro assays to support target validation and compound screening
Conduct molecular biology techniques such as:
qPCR (RNA isolation, cDNA synthesis, gene expression analysis)
ELISA and MSD (Meso Scale Discovery) immunoassays
Support NGS-related workflows, which may include:
Sample preparation and nucleic acid quality control
Library preparation and quantification
Basic data organization and handoff for downstream analysis
Collect, analyze, and document experimental data in electronic lab notebooks
Assist with assay optimization, troubleshooting, and validation
Prepare reagents, buffers, and assay materials as needed
Maintain laboratory organization and follow established SOPs and safety guidelines
Collaborate with scientists and contribute to team meetings and project updates
KEY REQUIREMENTS:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Biology, Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biomedical Engineering, or a related field
Hands-on experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
Familiarity with one or more of the following preferred: qPCR, ELISA, MSD, NGS library prep or sequencing technologies, Western blotting, RNA/DNA extraction
Strong attention to detail and ability to follow protocols accurately
Good organizational and documentation skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team
Interest in biotechnology, drug discovery, and translational research

The salary range for this role is $25 - $35. Compensation for the role will depend on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies, and experience.
