Our client is a leader in advanced manufacturing and industrial innovation, and they depend on a flexible, high-performing workforce to maintain agility across operations. As they expand production capabilities and global footprint, our client is seeking a strategic leader to oversee their contingent / supplemental workforce procurement across multiple sites and functions.

POSITION SUMMARY: 

The Director of Contingent Workforce Procurement will own and drive the enterprise-wide strategy, governance, and execution of our contingent labor program. This high-impact role will lead supplier management, technology integration, compliance, and cost optimization for non-employee labor, with a strong focus on supporting our manufacturing plants, technical operations, and skilled labor needs.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and lead the strategic vision for contingent workforce sourcing across manufacturing, engineering, logistics, and corporate functions.
  • Direct all aspects of vendor lifecycle management, including selection, contracting, pricing, performance, and risk mitigation.
  • Partner closely with plant leadership, HR, legal, finance, and EHS to ensure proper workforce planning and deployment.
  • Lead implementation and optimization of Vendor Management Systems (VMS) such as SAP Fieldglass, Beeline, or similar platforms.
  • Ensure compliance with labor regulations (e.g., OSHA, DOL guidelines, worker classification) and internal policies.
  • Monitor and manage large-scale staffing partner relationships, including Managed Service Providers (MSPs) and Statement of Work (SOW) engagements.
  • Create and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) including fill rates, cost savings, worker utilization, and supplier diversity.
  • Lead program transformation initiatives including digital integration, supplier rationalization, and workforce analytics.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on labor market trends, sourcing innovation, and workforce strategy.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Human Resources, or related field (MBA or Master’s preferred).
  • 8+ years of procurement, workforce solutions, or talent operations experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • 3+ years in a senior leadership or director-level role managing large-scale contingent labor programs.
  • Strong command of VMS tools and third-party labor management models.
  • Excellent negotiation, stakeholder engagement, and vendor governance skills.
  • Familiarity with labor regulations relevant to manufacturing environments (co-employment, safety training, etc.).
  • Experience driving change and efficiency through technology, process improvement, and analytics.

PREFERRED SKILLS:

  • Experience with global or multi-country contingent workforce programs would be a plus.
  • Lean/Six Sigma or operations background is a plus.
  • Industry certifications (e.g., SOW Management, HR certifications, CPSM, CCWP) are advantageous.
