Business Analyst
Summary:
We are seeking a highly organized and analytical Business Analyst to support an Agile software development team. This role serves as a key liaison between business stakeholders and the delivery team, with primary ownership of requirements clarity, acceptance criteria, sprint readiness, and stakeholder alignment. The Business Analyst plays a critical role in ensuring that work entering a sprint is well-defined and that delivered functionality meets business expectations.
Key Responsibilities
Requirements & Acceptance Criteria Ownership
- Elicit, analyze, and document business and functional requirements through stakeholder collaboration
- Write clear, testable user stories and own the quality and completeness of acceptance criteria, including edge cases, validations, and negative scenarios
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria with stakeholders to confirm intent and expectations prior to development
- Ensure backlog items are implementation-ready and aligned with agreed business outcomes
- Serve as a point of clarification for developers and QA throughout the sprint
- Participate in defect triage by determining whether issues stem from requirements gaps, design decisions, or implementation defects
Agile Delivery & Sprint Support
- Actively participate in Agile ceremonies including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives
- Enforce a clear Definition of Ready, ensuring stories entering a sprint have sufficient clarity, scope, and acceptance criteria
- Track requirement progress throughout the sprint lifecycle and proactively surface risks, blockers, or scope concerns
- Collaborate with Product Owners, Developers, QA, and UX to ensure alignment during delivery
- Prepare and deliver post-sprint reports, summarizing:
- Completed functionality
- Acceptance status
- Stakeholder feedback
- Open items, defects, or follow-up work
- Support release readiness by confirming requirements completion, acceptance, and stakeholder sign-off
Stakeholder Engagement & UAT Support
- Lead and facilitate meetings with business stakeholders to review requirements, scope, and delivered functionality
- Coordinate and support User Acceptance Testing (UAT), including:
- Preparing UAT scenarios
- Facilitating review sessions
- Documenting feedback and outcomes
- Act as a translator between business needs and technical implementation, ensuring shared understanding across teams
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- 3+ years of experience as a Business Analyst supporting Agile software development teams
- Strong experience writing user stories and acceptance criteria
- Proven ability to lead meetings and facilitate discussions with diverse stakeholders
- Familiarity with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and delivery artifacts
- Proficiency with tools such as Jira, Confluence, GitHub, or similar
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting or coordinating UAT activities
- Ability to analyze data and create clear, actionable reports
- Familiarity with SQL, reporting tools (PowerBI, Jira), or data analysis
- Experience working with cross-functional or distributed teams

Salary Range: $100,000-120,000 USD (commensurate with experience)
