Senior Electrical Engineer

Role Summary:
As a Electrical Engineer at Futronics (NA) Corporation North America Research and Development Center (Futronics NARDC), you will support our innovative research and development efforts for our next-generation service robotic products. This role reports to the head of the Department of Hardware and Design.

Job Type: Full-Time

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Work as a hands-on technical member, a generalist with diverse skills, and a strong contributor to the electrical system design in the Hardware and Design team.
  • Capable of working in a fast-paced, dynamic, and demanding environment under tight schedules. Willing to learn and pick up new skills.
  • Collaborate with our partners and vendors to create electronic subsystems for our robotic products, integrate firmware with robot hardware, and assemble robot prototypes to debug and test the overall system for functionality and reliability.
  • Execute interdisciplinary projects that involve the integration of mechanical components, electronics, sensors, actuators, controllers, batteries, screens, and other integral elements.
  • Support documentation efforts with excellent written communication skills.
  • Manage relationships with key external vendors.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Basic Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering (M.S. preferred).
  • At least 5 years of industry experience as an electronic hardware developer.
  • Experience in mixed-signal circuit design, analysis, simulation, testing, troubleshooting, bring-up, and PCBA design and layout in Altium Designer.
  • Experience with the product development lifecycle and commercialization of electronic products.
  • Experience in embedded systems and integrating microcontrollers, system-on-chip, and system-on-module devices into PCBAs.
  • Excellent hands-on skills with electronics prototyping and troubleshooting using lab tools (oscilloscope, multimeter, signal generator, soldering station, etc.).
  • Experience in managing vendors for components, PCBAs, and cable assemblies.
  • Familiarity with ESD/EMI mitigation and EMC best practices.
  • Familiarity with electric motor control and instrumentation techniques.
  • Familiarity with sensing devices, ADC/DAC fundamentals, and digital signal processing.
  • Familiarity with microcontroller programming in C/C++ and interfacing using I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, USB, and Ethernet.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Self-motivated and passionate about robotics.
  • Attention to detail with a sense of urgency and a “get-it-done” attitude.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Willing to work at different locations when necessary.
  • Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in firmware development using C and C++.
  • Experience in the medical device industry and knowledge of medical device compliance processes.
  • Experience in system integration and testing of mechatronic systems and overall robotic hardware platforms.
  • Passion for exploring new areas and implementing innovative ideas and concepts in Futronics’ products.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
