VP, Institutional Business Development - Central

Darien, Connecticut, United States; New York, New York, United States

Future Standard is seeking a Vice President of Institutional Business Development to lead capital-raising and relationship efforts with institutional investors across the Central U.S. This person will be asked to engage and develop a commercial dialogue with institutional LPs across channels, including public and corporate persons (pensions), endowments, foundations, insurance companies and larger family offices. In addition, this role will collaborate with the dedicated consultant relations team to optimize consultant engagement.  He/she will work to represent and raise capital for the firm’s full suite of comingled funds and customized solutions.  One of the key opportunities for the firm, and therefore this hire, is to bring greater market awareness and penetration for the firm’s private debt offerings across senior lending, junior lending and tactical opportunities along with both GP and LP-led secondaries on the private equity side.

The successful candidate will be a proven originator with a strong track record of sourcing and developing institutional mandates and long-term client partnerships. This is a high-impact, hands-on role best suited for someone who thrives in a growth-oriented environment and can translate strategic initiatives into actionable outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive institutional capital-raising activity across the Central U.S., focusing on pensions, endowments, foundations, and insurance companies.
  • Identify and cultivate new institutional investor relationships while deepening existing partnerships.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to the broader Institutional Sales and Product teams to align investor demand with product offerings.
  • Represent Future Standard in meetings, conferences, and virtual sessions with institutional stakeholders.
  • Work closely with internal teams (marketing, product, operations) to ensure effective coverage and client experience.
  • Lead all stages of the sales process with prospective LPs.  The successful candidate will be able to develop and execute on a strategic coverage plan, and he/she will have a keen and sophisticated sense of the best way to prioritize and use time – both his/hers and that of investment professionals.
  • Leverage CRM and data analytics to track pipeline activity, coverage metrics, and relationship depth.
  • Execute with minimal administrative support; must be a self-starter and individual contributor.

Qualifications

  • 8-10 years of total experience with the majority of the experience in institutional sales, investor relations, or capital formation within alternative asset management or financial services.
  • Deep relationships across Central U.S. institutional channels strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to originate and close new mandates.
  • Proven knowledge of alternative investment strategies, including private credit, real estate, private equity, and hybrid solutions.
  • Series 7 and 63 required (or ability to obtain quickly); Series 65 or 24 is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Comfortable operating independently in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Willingness to travel extensively within the region.

Preferred Locations: NY, CT, or possibly Chicago

Role Scope & Team Structure

  • This position supports U.S. capital-raising efforts within a hybrid institutional sales team.
  • The ability to both identify and capture short-term commercial opportunity, while developing and consistently building long-term, strategic LP relationships.
  • The immediate need is to fill a gap in Central U.S. institutional coverage.
  • Ideal candidates will have the ability to work autonomously while collaborating with the broader team’s goals.
  • Future Standard fosters an entrepreneurial culture that encourages a “building” mindset—expectations are for self-starters who can operate with high autonomy following onboarding and product familiarization.
  • The team structure includes 2 MD’s and junior/senior pairings, with analyst support for sales initiatives. Product specialists provide technical expertise but do not own client relationships.

Market & Geographic Considerations

  • Preference for individuals with strong institutional relationships in the Central U.S.
  • FS is open to flexible location options for standout candidates with proven networks.
  • While experience with hedge funds and liquid alts is helpful, deep understanding of private markets is essential.

Future Standard is a global alternative asset manager serving institutional and private wealth clients, investing across private equity, credit and real estate. With a 30+ year track record of value creation and over $86 billion in assets under management, we back the business owners and financial sponsors that drive growth and innovation across the middle market, transforming untapped potential into durable value.

As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
