IT Project Manager (Active Secret Clearance)

G2IT is looking for a Information Technology Project Manager (PM) to support a fast-paced, dynamic customer environment. As an Information Technology (IT) Project Manager, you will be responsible for using established principles, procedures and policies to manage IT project from conception through completion. This includes, but is not necessarily limited to, performing the following activities and tasks: assisting business analysts to determine the rough order of magnitude of potential efforts; assessing the critical path through a series of tasks, and performing analysis to determine the pessimistic, most likely, and optimistic scenarios, as well as suggesting the skill and experience levels of required human resources.

The Project Manager is expected to oversee all aspects of the approved project, to identify and (if possible) remediate risks, to resolve issues as they arise, and to be the primary point of contact for the assigned Business Sponsor. The Project Manager is expected to effectively and efficiently guide all aspects of a project from start to finish, with the ideal goal of delivering the outcome on time and within budget. Reporting will be within contract/leadership and government customers in the IT/cyber community. Ability to lead major initiatives across several teams with competing priorities. Work closely within the small Project Management Organization team. Provide weekly, monthly and annual reporting/briefings to ensure communication and level of understanding is clear and concise to the customer.

 

Responsibilities include, but are not necessarily limited to:

  • In conjunction with the assigned Business Sponsor, defining the project’s goals and expected outcomes
  • Outlining all steps needed to achieve the agreed-upon goals
  • Identifying the resources (human and otherwise) required to accomplish those steps
  • In conjunction with the assigned Business Sponsor, determining the budget and time required for each of the steps, as well as the project as a whole
  • Overseeing the actual implementation and execution of the required work
  • Identifying potential risks and (if possible) remediating them
  • Resolving issues in the course of project execution
  • Periodically reporting project status to the Business Sponsor and other relevant stakeholders as required
  • Delivering the finished outcome

Required qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Computer Science, Information Technology or related field
  • Active PMP certification
  • Active ITIL Found certification
  • Although remote work is possible, the candidate must be able to work on site (Scott AFB, IL)
  • 5 years’ experience in managing complex IT projects
  • 10 to 14 years’ experience in Computer Science, Information Technologies or related fields
  • Experience interacting with senior-level executives
  • Excellent presentation skills (verbal and written)
  • Ability to foster teamwork and to work cooperatively and effectively with others to set goals, resolve problems and make decisions that further completion of desired activities and tasks
  • Ability to assess situations to determine the project’s importance, urgency and risk, and make clear decisions which are timely and in the best interests of the organization
  • Ability to set project priorities, develop a work schedule, monitor progress toward goals and track progress as required
  • Ability to assess project problem situations to identify causes, gather and process relevant information, generate possible solutions and make recommendations and/or resolve the problem
  • Demonstrated competence in project management and technical competence in discipline field(s) and knowledge of company policies and practices
  • The minimum of a Secret level DoD Security Clearance is required

Desired qualifications:

  • Experience in managing projects in Clarity PPM is highly desired
  • Experience with Enterprise Architecture strategies, leveraging common platforms, processes and applications
  • Knowledge of CCNA, CCNP, WAN/LAN, Networks and Infrastructure
  • ITIL Practitioner or Intermediate certification is highly desired

Salary: $115k-$125k depending on experience
