Position Summary
As an Accounting Intern, you will spend 6 months working with the Stamford-based team to assist with various Finance and Accounting duties associated with General Atlantic’s Limited Partner entities used to make portfolio investments.
Responsibilities
- Collaborate with Experienced Professionals: Play an integral role in the quarterly close process, working closely with seasoned finance and accounting experts
- Master Data Reconciliation: Develop your analytical skills by identifying and resolving data discrepancies to ensure financial accuracy
- Engage with External Auditors: Prepare key documentation and contribute to successful audit processes, gaining exposure to the behind-the-scenes mechanics of fund management
- Dive into Accounting Research: Explore complex accounting questions and gain practical insights into the application of accounting standards
- Support Investor Relations: Help research and craft thoughtful responses to investor inquiries, strengthening transparency and trust with stakeholders
- Contribute to Financial Reporting: Assist with the preparation of internal and external financial reports that drive decisions across the firm
- Ensure Quality Investor Statements: Conduct qualitative reviews of investor statements and flag any potential issues to the team, ensuring precision and clarity
- Tackle Special Projects: Take on dynamic, ad hoc projects that offer exposure to different facets of fund accounting and broaden your professional toolkit
Qualifications
- Concentration in Finance or Accounting
- Strong Excel skills required (i.e. formulas, pivot tables, etc.)
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Proven record of achievement in academic and other settings
- Shows intellectual curiosity and is always striving to learn
- Proactive and positive work attitude; willing to go the extra mile
- Creative and able to solve problems
