The Opportunity

Galaxia Technologies Inc. is seeking a Systems Engineer / Mission Analyst SME to start in September onsite in El Segundo to support advanced national security space and defense programs. The selected candidate will work as part of a multidisciplinary team conducting mission analysis, trade studies, system engineering, and technical assessments for space-based sensing, surveillance, and mission architectures.

This position is ideal for an engineer with strong analytical skills and an interest in solving complex aerospace and defense challenges. The successful candidate will support the development and evaluation of future mission concepts, system architectures, and operational capabilities for government and commercial customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform mission analysis, modeling, simulation, and performance assessment of aerospace and defense systems.

  • Conduct trade studies to evaluate alternative architectures, sensor concepts, orbital configurations, and operational concepts.

  • Support development of mission-level requirements, system requirements, and measures of effectiveness (MOEs).

  • Analyze system performance against mission objectives, operational scenarios, and threat environments.

  • Assist in the development of Concept of Operations (CONOPS), mission architectures, and technical roadmaps.

  • Support technical studies involving space-based sensing, surveillance, tracking, and related mission areas.

  • Develop analytical tools, visualizations, and technical briefings to communicate study results to stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts across systems engineering, mission operations, software, modeling and simulation, and aerospace disciplines.

  • Support customer meetings, technical interchange meetings (TIMs), and program reviews.

  • Prepare technical reports, white papers, and presentation materials documenting analysis methods, assumptions, and recommendations.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Systems Engineering, Physics, Mathematics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Operations Research, or a related technical field.

  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience in aerospace, defense, space systems, mission engineering, systems engineering, operations research, or mission analysis.

  • Experience performing technical analysis using MATLAB, Python, STK, or similar analytical tools.

  • Familiarity with systems engineering principles, requirements development, and technical trade studies.

  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts effectively through written reports and presentations.

  • U.S. citizenship.

  • Active or recently active TS clearance with eligibility for SCI and willingness to take a polygraph.

  • The start date for this position is set for September 2026 onsite in El Segundo, CA.

Preferred

  • Experience supporting Department of Defense, Space Force, Intelligence Community, or related government programs.

  • Familiarity with Space Domain Awareness (SDA), space surveillance, missile warning/tracking, ISR, or national security space missions.

  • Experience with orbital mechanics, astrodynamics, or spacecraft mission design.

  • Experience using Systems Tool Kit (STK), GMAT, MATLAB, Python, ModelCenter, AFSIM, or similar modeling and simulation tools.

  • Knowledge of threat analysis, mission-level assessment, or operational analysis methodologies.

  • Experience conducting cost-performance trades, sensitivity analyses, or architecture evaluations.

  • Master’s degree in a relevant technical discipline.
