As the world of finance continues to evolve, we are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Head of Compliance to lead and manage our compliance function. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that our operations comply with all applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role requires a deep understanding of the regulatory landscape for cryptoassets and traditional financial services in the UK, as well as strong leadership skills.

What You’ll Do:

  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant UK regulations, including FSMA, MiFID, and MLR requirements, and other regulatory obligations related to cryptoassets. Ensure the continuous development of regulatory strategies, policies, and procedures to facilitate and promote the growth of the business in the EMEA region across all operating verticals.
  • Monitoring and Reporting: Establish and oversee systems for monitoring compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Report on compliance activities and findings to senior management and the board. Conduct risk assessment exercises, and audits of the firm's cryptoasset activities to identify potential compliance gaps and mitigate risks.
  • Foster Collaboration: Engage across departments to develop and maintain comprehensive policies and procedures to ensure a coordinated approach to compliance that proactively seeks efficiencies and opportunities.
  • Training and Awareness: Design and deliver compliance training programs to employees at all levels, fostering a culture of compliance and ethical conduct.
  • Liaison with Regulators: Act as the primary point of contact with regulatory bodies, including the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). Manage all regulatory engagements examinations, audits, and inquiries.
  • Stakeholder Reporting: Prepare and submit relevant reporting to senior management and regulators.
  • Incident Management: Oversee the investigation of compliance incidents and breaches. Implement corrective actions and report to relevant authorities as required.
  • Advisory Role: Provide advice to senior management on regional compliance and regulatory matters, and their potential impact on the business.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay abreast of industry trends, regulatory developments, and best practices. Continuously improve the compliance program to address emerging risks and regulatory changes.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Law, Finance, Business, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant professional qualifications (e.g., ICA, ACAMS) is preferred.
  • Experience: A minimum of 10 years of experience in compliance within the financial services industry, with significant exposure to cryptoassets and the UK regulatory environment. Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and monitoring compliance policies and procedures in a complex, fast-paced environment. Experience working for a regulatory authority, such as the FCA, is preferred.
  • Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FSMA, MiFID, AML/KYC requirements, and other relevant regulatory frameworks. A deep understanding of UK and EU cryptoasset regulations. Knowledge of other relevant international regulatory frameworks (HK, US, FATF) preferable. Demonstrable interest and familiarity with blockchain technology, digital assets, and the cryptoasset ecosystem.
  • Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously. Ability to lead and inspire a team. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex regulatory concepts to a diverse audience.
  • Attributes: High ethical standards, integrity, and a commitment to maintaining a culture of compliance. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
