About You:

We're looking for an experienced IT System Architect / Engineer with extensive expertise in Google technologies, (Google Workspaces & GCP), to design, build, and run our enterprise Google service offering. In addition, this individual must possess the ability to lead related enterprise systems integration with a security first approach, accounting for full systems lifecycle (SDLC), including operationalization, and support. A senior technologist with a holistic understanding of the business enterprise, (applications, SaaS, infrastructure, and security), that can work collaboratively with peers in IT, security, software product engineering, infrastructure engineering, and business teams to implement secure data connectivity and associated security solutions at a rapidly growing company.

As Galaxy’s Google Technologies SME you will manage and maintain Galaxy’s Google Workspace environment, ensuring it meets organizational needs while minimizing risk. This role involves providing support, performing routine maintenance, and leading projects to implement new features and functionalities.  In addition, you will have the opportunity to design, deploy, and manage our GCP service offering. 

What You’ll Do:

  • Assist in setting standards for the use of Google Workspaces, and GCP.
  • Assist in operationalizing Google Workspace and GCP services made available to the organization.
  • Respond to requests from internal stakeholders regarding their Google Workspace and GCP requirements on a global level including simple request fulfillment, project planning and delivery.
  • Ensure that SDLC and system quality processes are followed in the operationalization of Google services.  This includes maintaining documentation on configurations, operational and troubleshooting procedures.
  • Build and maintain automation for routine operational tasks.
  • Maintain a security first approach to service fulfillment, and service operationalization.
  • Implement and manage Google Workspaces and GCP security controls and features in collaboration with Security Engineering and Operations with a focus on DLP, data protection, insider threat, and 3rd party / external access.
  • Provide support for all Google services deployed for use by the organization.
  • Manage the ongoing operation and lifecycle of the services deployed.
  • Develop and deliver training on operationalized services to IT support staff and business users.
  • Collaborate with internal IT, Security, and Business Teams to implement new features and functionality.

What We're Looking For:

  • Expert understanding of Google Workspace and GCP services and administration tools.
  • Experience with Google Workspaces and GCP security configuration and operations.
  • Experience architecting, engineering, and operating technology services following SDLC best practices.
  • Experience in system commissioning and systems validation.
  • Experience in Enterprise Change Control.
  • Patching and Vulnerability Management.
  • Understanding of and experience leveraging infrastructure as code in service delivery and operational support.
  • Technical skills/background in network/system administration.
    • Physical and Virtual Data Networking, LAN / WAN / Wireless.
    • Windows and Linux Server engineering and operations.
    • Load Balancing.
    • Backup and Recovery.
    • Monitoring and Alerting.
  • Experience with scripting and automation tools (e.g., Python, PowerShell).
  • Familiarity with other IT systems and integrations a plus:
    • Microsoft O365 Suite of Services.
    • Email including Microsoft Exchange and third part email gateways and security controls.
    • On Prem and Azure Active Directory.
    • File services and data archiving, Microsoft File Services, BOX, SharePoint, etc.
    • Windows, Mac, Mobile Device Management.
    • Patching and Vulnerability Management.
    • Single Sign-on and Multifactor Authentication services.
    • Selecting, onboarding, and administering SaaS.
    • AWS engineering and operations.
    • Windows, Mac, Mobile Device Management.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills to quickly identify and resolve issues with demonstrated experience functioning as a problem manager.
  • Certifications in Google Workspace and GCP.
  • Relevant IT certifications are a plus.

Bonus Points:

  • Excellent project management skills with a track record of successful project delivery.  Agil methodology experience a plus.
  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities and strategic mindset for advising and managing internal and external partners.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in building and managing a team of engineers and administrators a plus.
  • Ability to manage vendors and contractors.
  • Passionate and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable handling urgent requests with a clear understanding of processes.
  • Good sense of problem identification, prioritization, and time management.

The base salary ranges included below will be commensurate with candidate experience, expertise and local market. Final offer amounts are determined by multiple factors, including candidate experience and expertise. At Galaxy, we maintain a total compensation philosophy which consists of a competitive base salary, annual bonus, and equity incentives.

Base Salary Range

$150,000 - $175,000 USD
