Who You Are:
You are a seasoned engineering leader with deep expertise in designing and delivering mission-critical infrastructure at scale. As the Director of Engineering, Data Centers, you will lead the end-to-end engineering function for Galaxy’s data center developments, beginning with our flagship Helios campus in Afton, Texas. You will be responsible for shaping and executing the technical vision, ensuring our facilities are built to the highest standards of performance, reliability, and sustainability. In this role, you will oversee a diverse team of engineers across structural, electrical, and mechanical disciplines, while working cross-functionally with internal stakeholders, external partners, and regulatory agencies. This is a hands-on, high-impact leadership position that calls for a strategic thinker with a proven track record in complex infrastructure projects, a passion for innovation, and a commitment to operational excellence in a fast-evolving environment.
What You'll Do:
- Lead the engineering strategy and execution across Galaxy’s data center portfolio, overseeing structural, electrical, and mechanical systems from concept through commissioning

- Manage a multidisciplinary internal engineering team and external consultants across all disciplines, including MEP engineers, structural engineers, BIM coordinators, project engineers, and technical program managers
- Coordinate closely with construction, operations, design, procurement, safety, and sustainability teams to ensure project alignment, operational readiness, and long-term maintainability
- Serve as a senior technical leader and decision-maker across the entire design-build lifecycle, from site planning and permitting to system commissioning and turnover
- Oversee development of critical infrastructure including building envelopes, structural frames, power distribution networks, cooling systems, fire protection, and backup systems
- Ensure full compliance with industry codes and standards (IBC, NEC, ACI, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE), while maintaining Galaxy’s internal performance, uptime, and efficiency requirements
- Lead design reviews, scope validation, and technical escalations, ensuring integration across all engineering disciplines and functions
- Guide equipment selection, vendor coordination, and systems integration for core data center infrastructure, including switchgear, chillers, generators, UPS, and BMS systems
- Promote a culture of excellence, accountability, and collaboration within your team and across departments, setting high standards for technical rigor and delivery
- Standardize infrastructure designs and drive implementation of modular, scalable design solutions to enable rapid deployment across multiple locations
- Utilize performance data and analytics to optimize system design, improve lifecycle efficiency, and support future capacity planning
- Support executive leadership with project updates, technical insights, risk analysis, and strategic planning for long-term infrastructure growth
- Represent the engineering function in external meetings with vendors, consultants, regulatory agencies, and partners to align on compliance and innovation goals
- Develop and maintain Galaxy’s engineering standards, documentation, and technical knowledge base to drive consistency and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For:
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural, Electrical, Mechanical, or a related engineering field; advanced degree or PE/SE license is a plus
- Minimum 10 years of engineering experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role overseeing large-scale, mission-critical infrastructure projects
- Proven track record in delivering ground-up data centers or high-density technical facilities, managing the full engineering lifecycle from conceptual design through commissioning
- Deep expertise in building systems engineering, including structural frameworks, power distribution, cooling systems, and integration across MEP disciplines
- In-depth knowledge of industry codes and standards such as NEC, ASHRAE, NFPA, IEEE, IBC, and Uptime Institute Tier classifications
- Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary teams and managing external consultants, vendors, and contractors across engineering and construction functions
- Strong project management and organizational skills, with the ability to align design, construction, operations, and executive stakeholders around shared objectives
- Experience with hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise data center environments preferred
- Commitment to sustainability, modularity, and energy-efficient design within mission-critical environments
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities
- Willingness to travel as needed to support project sites, vendor coordination, and design/construction reviews
