Who You Are
As the VP of Project Controls, you have demonstrated experience in leading complex projects and program controls amongst a large group internal and external set of stakeholders for large-scale construction projects. You have successfully developed and implemented project control strategies in a large organization. You have partnered with cross-functional (XFN) teams to influence strategic direction. You have experience developing and driving action or operational adjustments based on project controls performance metrics. You have experience negotiating construction changes and complex construction claims related to cost, schedule, and other contract entitlements.
What You'll Do
- Technical lead in project controls for a large-scale data center construction project, including budget management, forecasting, change management diligence/Owner change order quality, invoice review, accruals, risk facilitation, and other areas.
- Develop and maintain the overall project controls strategy and operations for a large (1 GW+) data center campus and multi-campus data center program in coordination with Galaxy’s internal Finance team.
- Analyze and communicate the projects project controls health (financial, schedule, change management, and risk) to project stakeholders.
- Identify project commercial risk mitigation opportunities in collaboration with the Construction Delivery team and XFN partners.
- Support the Pre-Construction team in the review and alignment of general contractor agreements and commercial terms, gathering and analysis of historical data, incorporation of master contract terms, communication, and management of finalized internal budget with Galaxy’s Finance team.
- Provide support of project financial forecasts, cash flow requirements, and variances monthly/quarterly for communication to site leadership and strategic planning and analytics partners
- Direct communication with schedule lead(s) to ensure collaboration and alignment of project health between cost, schedule, and overall project risk
- Lead a team of internal and external contractors to support project controls operations for the project.
- Approximately 25% travel to other data center campuses and other company locations.
What We’re Looking For
We are seeking a candidate for a key project leadership role leading project controls operations for an AI data center campus of unprecedented scale (1 GW+). The VP of Project Controls will not only be a technical subject matter expert overseeing all cost controls and commercial deliverables on the project and across multiple general contractors, subcontractors, OFCI vendors, and other key partners. This person will be a critical partner for the Construction Delivery, Pre-Construction, and Finance teams. Communication and organization skills are important in this highly collaborative, analytical, and strategic role. This position will work closely with the Design/Engineering, Pre-Construction, Construction Delivery, and Finance teams.
What You Bring
- 10+ years of construction Project Controls experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or an equivalent technical field or related field experience
- Subject matter expert in cost management, construction change orders, and risk management.
- Experience in earned value management or collection and analysis of resource data
- Experience in data centers, manufacturing, infrastructure or large-scale industrial construction programs requiring complex coordination.
- Demonstrated analytical, communication, problem solving, prioritization, organization and reporting skills
