Community Engagement Specialist
About Us
Galileo is a team-based medical practice working to improve the quality and affordability of health care for all. Operating across 50 states, Galileo offers high-touch, data-driven, multi-specialty, longitudinal care to diverse and complex patients—on the phone, in the home, and everywhere in between. Regional and national health plans, employers, and Fortune 500 organizations trust Galileo as the leading solution to improve population health. Founded by Dr. Tom X. Lee, the healthcare pioneer behind One Medical and Epocrates, Galileo is a team of leading innovators from healthcare, technology, and human-centered design. Our mission is to apply that talent and scientific thinking to transform society by solving our largest, toughest healthcare problems, while at the same time bringing patient and provider closer.
About The Role
As one of Galileo’s first Community Engagement Specialists, you’ll have the opportunity to pioneer very mission-critical work - how we find, build trust with, and ultimately engage vulnerable patients into our supportive primary care model (free to the patient). You will collaborate internally with local leaders and central experts while leveraging your relationships and knowledge of the broader community to build, test, and refine an effective set of tactics. This is a boots-on-the-ground role that is well-suited for creative, tenacious, good-hearted people-people.
We are looking for:
- Someone who truly enjoys talking to every type of person, builds rapport and trust easily, and derives joy and energy from helping others
- Hard core problem solving and curiosity, continually peeling back layers of a challenge and finding new, better angles to address and improve
- Comfort operating in a less defined space and excitement in shaping the organization’s learning and best practices; ability to pivot, re-prioritize and flex as day-to-day needs shift
- Independent motivation and direction as well as effective collaboration cross functionally
- Deep existing connections to, and relationships within, the community and an understanding of the nuances of a particular place
- Ability to build upon genuine connections and encourage or convert into engagement with Galileo care teams
- Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to adapt approach and style to different audiences
What you’ll do:
- Work closely with other internal teams to pilot, refine, and playbook effective outreach tactics
- Develop creative approaches to finding and making connections with eligible patients (many of whom might be tough to reach, may have complex medical conditions and/or behavioral health and social challenges)
- In-person, local outreach to patient homes, shelters, hospitals and other locations within the community
- Help patients understand the value of the Galileo team and comprehensive primary care model - converting them into completing visits with the care team and/or addressing their gaps in care
- Build out a network of local community partners to help us better find, connect with, and provide support to our patients
This is an in-person, field-based role requiring commute throughout New York, NY.
Compensation Range: $25-30/hour
