The role
We are seeking a skilled Software DevOps Engineer who loves automation and cloud technologies to play a pivotal role in our Bank systems architecture transformation. The ideal candidate is a person who has supported and or configured mission-critical production systems, has application troubleshooting expertise, can read code with an eye on performance, and is strong in database concepts and maintenance.
The candidate should fully embrace the use of tools such as Kubernetes/Docker-compose, Saltstack, Terraform, Docker, and Hashicorp Consul/Vault and have experience in high-traffic environments, supporting highly scalable cloud-based applications. Additionally, the candidate is willing to quickly ramp-up on GT.M key- value-based database. Our core infrastructure is hosted on AWS running Linux/Container-Linux and Kubernetes.
This position involves making strategic incremental changes to the Profile banking core infrastructure and automation that propels SoFi to successfully migrate to the next-generation banking platform. You’ll be working within a highly collaborative environment where planning and executing through a unified lens is essential due to the complexity and interdependencies of multiple systems that interact with the banking core.
As a SoFi software engineer, you’ll be in the middle of it all – you’ll work with stakeholders to implement functionality, architect our systems, squash bugs, and continually grow as an engineer. The ideal candidate is both forward-thinking and can draw from their wealth of automation and production support experience, has a strong sense of ownership and drive for delivery, and is a good mentor and co-worker. What you’ll do:

Support the large infrastructure running Linux in AWS.

Perform FIS Profile banking system support for Production and Non-production environments from infrastructure and application level
-
Work heavily using Docker/CoreOS/Kubernetes/Saltsack/Terraform for configuration management/Kafka Consumers.

Participate in shaping the technical architecture of the product database and core banking migration

Improve the continuous testing and deployment process.

Plan and perform Core banking release management

Create and maintain monitoring tools for banking core processes

Perform application governance and compliance-related tasks like Disaster Recovery, Access Reviews, Application audit support etc.

Collaborate with various operations team partners within the bank (tellers, risk, warehouse etc.) and provide day-to-day production support

Communicate with project leads, product managers, and other software developers

Mentor other engineers, support the technical culture, and help grow the team

Generate ideas for new initiatives and technologies
What you’ll need:

Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
-
2+ years of experience in the requirements below is desired.

Experience in hosted services/applications on Linux platforms and basic administration skills on various services (nginx/haproxy, ssh, dnsmasq, ldap, syslog, ntp etc)

Database proficiency, their configuration and maintenance plus willingness to learn hierarchical database model (GT.M)

Message Queue systems (native, IBM, cloud based etc.) expertise and support

Experienced in stack trace and core dump analysis using various debugger tools and native linux system stat utilities.

Demonstrated proficiency writing complex scripts in a standard scripting language (Bourne shell and Python).
-
Experienced in Terraform scripting.

Experience with AWS services such as EC2, EBS, AZ, VPC, S3, KMS, IAM, VPC, Security groups, Cloudwatch, Route53, ELB etc

Knowledgeable in virtualization and containerization technologies.

Experience supporting high availability and/or high traffic web environments.

Working knowledge of basic networking concepts, firewall, RPC, application configs and interaction

Willingness to roll up your sleeves, collaborate with others and get stuff done

Solid sense of responsibility; driving a project from inception to completion
Nice to have:

Banking domain knowledge and core systems exposure

Knowledge and experience with Setting up and managing cloud infrastructure, especially EBS volumes and IOPs scaling

Experience using distributed source code management tools such as Gitlab
-
Familiarity with managing and configuring monitoring tools, such as OpsGenie, Rollbar and DataDog.

Experience with Snowflake data warehouse platform and solutions
US-Based Base Compensation
$102,400 - $192,000 USD
