The Role

As a Staff Product Manager for Core Banking – U.S. Business Lending, you will be instrumental in shaping the next generation of Galileo’s lending capabilities. This high-impact, strategic role is responsible for evolving our core lending modules into scalable, configurable, and compliant services that support the full lending lifecycle for small business credit products.

You will lead product strategy and execution across core loan processing—spanning booking, servicing, payment handling, and refinancing—ensuring deep integration with the broader lending technology ecosystem, including origination, credit decisioning, collateral and limit management, collections, and loan securitization.

This role demands a strong product mindset, hands-on technical acumen, and the ability to work cross-functionally with matrixed teams, including engineering, design, compliance, sales, operations, finance, and legal. You’ll bridge the gap between business needs and technical execution, defining and prioritizing product features, supporting client and partner engagements, and driving delivery across Agile development teams.

What you’ll do:

  • Define and execute the product strategy and roadmap for loan account management within the core banking system, initially focusing on small business lending products (e.g., term loans, lines of credit).
  • Lead cross-functional collaboration with engineering, design, compliance, and go-to-market teams to deliver configurable, scalable, and secure solutions for financial institutions.
  • Translate complex business and operational requirements into precise product specifications, epics, and user stories for agile development teams.
  • Prioritize and manage the product backlog while continuously identifying opportunities for improvement and responding to production issues with innovative, user-centric solutions.
  • Ensure full support for the loan lifecycle, including booking, disbursement, accrual, payments, refinancing, delinquency, default, and payoff.
  • Design APIs, configuration parameters, and data models to support integrations with the broader lending ecosystem (e.g., origination, credit decisioning, collateral and limit management, collections, securitization).
  • Ensure regulatory compliance, including adherence to SBA lending requirements and other U.S. banking standards.
  • Engage in ongoing market research, client feedback, and competitive analysis to validate product decisions and drive differentiation.
  • Act as a subject matter expert in core loan processing and servicing, guiding internal teams and clients.
  • Partner with implementation teams to deliver configurable product constructs that meet the diverse needs of financial institutions.

What you’ll need:

  • 8+ years of product management experience in financial services or banking technology, with a strong focus on core banking and lending systems.
  • Deep knowledge of the U.S. lending market, especially small business credit products, including SBA loan program compliance and reporting requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with loan product configuration (term loans, lines of credit), pricing models (interest, fees, amortization), and full loan lifecycle servicing.
  • Strong understanding of batch processing, refinancing simulations, exception handling, and how core loan processing fits within the broader ecosystem (origination, underwriting, collateral, collections, securitization).
  • Experience working with or within a core banking platform or lending technology provider.
  • Familiarity with modern banking architecture, APIs, configuration parameters, and data models for lending systems.
  • Demonstrated technical proficiency and ability to engage effectively with engineering and architecture teams.
  • Proficient in SaaS product development within regulated environments; experienced with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
  • Strong analytical skills and experience applying data-driven decision-making and experimentation frameworks to iterate and improve products.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to convey complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in business, computer science, engineering, or a related discipline.
  • Experience with modern, third-generation banking platforms and scalable, configurable product architectures is a strong plus.

Success in this Role Looks Like:

  • Launch of flexible and compliant lending capabilities for business banking.
  • High configurability of loan products without custom code.
  • Support for scalable loan servicing workflows in loan servicing systems that reduce operational burden for clients.
  • Robust documentation of APIs and data models to support ecosystem integration.
  • Strong client satisfaction and adoption of core lending modules.
