Role
Galvanize has launched its Credit and Capital Solutions business, anchored by a $1.3 billion investment program from a leading institutional investor. Galvanize's Credit and Capital Solutions strategy is designed to meet a growing need for flexible capital across power, manufacturing, efficiency, and resilience. The strategy provides structured non-bank and special situations credit, preferred equity, and opportunistic capital to companies and projects at critical inflection points. Target geographies include the U.S., Canada, and Europe, with a focus on the full energy transition value chain, including utility-scale and distributed renewable energy, grid and storage solutions, fleet electrification, energy efficiency, and advanced materials manufacturing.
Galvanize is seeking an Investment Associate for its Credit and Capital Solutions platform. The Associate should have strong financial modeling and analytics experience, institutional exposure to or a strong interest in lending and underwriting, credit, or debt capital markets, as well as an interest in decarbonization investing. This person will gain experience investing across the capital structure including first lien direct lending, subordinated capital (including mezzanine debt and preferred equity), and structured and opportunistic investments. This person’s core responsibilities will include deal origination support, deal screening, due diligence, financial modeling and analysis, drafting investment committee materials, and closing for new deals and follow-on investments. Additionally, the Associate may also support portfolio management, impact analyses, and investor partnerships functions. This is an exciting opportunity to help expand a growing platform within a well-established and successful firm. The Associate will be based in the New York office.
Essential Job Responsibilities
- Support deal underwriting and execution processes from start to finish - origination and screening, diligence, closing and funding of capital, and continued monitoring
- Participate in, manage and potentially lead investment diligence processes including but not limited to management calls, market analysis, articulation of investment thesis, technology maturity assessment, contract review, legal document review, management team assessment, and reference calls
- Participate in and/or lead financial diligence, including analysis of financial statements, cash flows, and financial modeling for prospective investments undergoing investment committee process
- Assist in drafting and negotiating term sheets and proposing investment structures
- Prepare internal and external presentations & underwriting materials for proposed and executed investments, including investment committee memoranda
- Support deal origination process, including initial deal screening, prospect outreach, sourcing transactions, conduct and reference and management calls, and initial screening of deals
- Support the overall investment strategy and team with sector deep dives and market analyses
- Engage with the Impact Team and portfolio company management teams to support investments
- Collaborate with other Galvanize teams to support credit solutions platform (including investor relations, legal, and other investment teams)
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably with a major in finance, economics or related field
- 2-4 years of experience in investment banking, management consulting, project finance, private credit or private equity, with a preference for experience in credit or debt capital markets, energy, climate, infrastructure or sustainability (industry-focus not required)
- Strong financial background, including accounting, financial analysis, Excel and financial modeling skills with experience developing and managing financial models, ideally involving structured debt/equity investments
- Track record of striving for and achieving excellence

- Ability to be a team player, collaborate, operate in and adapt to a rapidly changing environment, and maintain strong attention to detail, initiative, resourcefulness, and problem-solving skills

- Interest in climate and decarbonization investing
- Excellent communication skills (listening, asking questions, writing, speaking, and open dialogues)

Compensation and Benefits
- Estimated base salary, depending on experience: $125,000 – $150,000
- Role is also eligible for an annual performance-based bonus in addition to the base salary
