Senior Software Engineer, Partner Engineering
This position is US based only.
People come to Discord before, during, and after gaming, and we want to make that experience even better. The Social Layer of Gaming team is building the tools for game developers to make that happen by harnessing the power of Discord from right within their games. We believe that gaming is better when playing with your friends and aim to foster better and deeper relationships through that. This is also reflected in how we work! Our engineering culture believes that great teams are built through collaboration and trust. If you’re a software engineer that loves working with partners to build great things, please check this out and join us!
What You'll Be Doing
- Collaborate with our game developer partners and support them as they build out games and services that rely on our SDKs and APIs. This could mean hopping into partner meetings as a technical expert, answering their questions in shared channels, helping them design out a solution, and more.
- Build out features for our audience of game developers. You’ll be operating across our stack—though focusing mostly in our C++ SDKs, our APIs, and other backend systems.
- Use your attention to detail to constantly raise our software quality bar. You have a great eye for the developer experience and can drive high expectations within our engineering team.
- Pair with the other engineers on the team to write, review, and ship elegant, scalable code. You take pride in the fact that your code will be used by millions and millions of people!
- Work with our product managers, designers, and partner managers to cut through ambiguity and find the best way forward.
What you should have
- 2 years experience with C++ and 4-5 as a software engineer.
- You have experience working as an engineer directly with external partners.
- You have a strong sense for product and design thinking and how that applies to an SDK. We don’t operate in silos and you’ll be collaborating closely with cross-functional peers. You should be able to express opinions and collaborate to make something great.
- You take a holistic approach to problem solving. You believe in solving a problem from first principles rather than simply shipping a solution. You learn from your mistakes and work through obstacles with the rest of the team.
