About the role:
We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Data Management team that builds and operates systems that move, process, aggregate, store, and analyze the company’s most critical shared datasets. This role reports to the Director, Data Platform.
Where you will work:
This is a hybrid role and will require up to 3 days in Garner’s New York City office.
What you will do:
- Provide technical leadership to design, build, and operate scalable, resilient, and secure data systems aligned with Garner’s strategic mission
- Drive the development of a unified, world-class data platform that supports analytics, data science, product, and engineering needs
- Enforce rigorous data modeling and governance standards to ensure data quality, consistency, and compliance
- Influence product and engineering roadmaps to ensure data systems interoperate within a cohesive ecosystem, and lead seamless system migrations as needed
- Champion user data privacy and security across all data initiatives
- Foster a high-performing, collaborative team culture through hands-on leadership, mentorship, and talent development
What you will bring to the team:
- 5+ years of experience working in the software engineering industry, with at least 3+ years focused on a Data engineering function
- 1+ years of managing data and/or analytics engineering teams, with a track record of building and mentoring high performing teams
- Hands-on experience designing and building large-scale data systems including handling ingestion, processing, and storage of massive datasets
- Strong grasp of data governance best practices, including data quality, security, and compliance
- Expertise in dimensional modeling, schema design, and storage/query optimization in cloud environments like Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift
- Proven ability to translate complex business needs into scalable technical roadmaps and lead their execution
- Experience with Big Data technologies such as Argo, Apache Iceberg, AWS Glue, Spark, Metaflow, DBT, and Soda
- Interest and familiarity with Machine Learning infrastructure or Data Science platforms
- Preference for experience managing regulated data and/or healthcare data standards
- Demonstrated ability to operate effectively in dynamic, fast-paced startup environments, with a hands-on approach and a strong commitment to organizational success
- A desire to be a part of our mission to improve the U.S. healthcare system
Compensation Transparency:
The target salary range for this position is $225,000 - $240,000. Individual compensation for this role will depend on various factors, including qualifications, skills, and applicable laws. In addition to base compensation, this role is eligible to participate in our equity incentive and competitive benefits plans, including but not limited to: flexible PTO, Medical/Dental/Vision plan options, 401(k), Teladoc Health and more.
