Job Summary:

Garramone Plastic Surgery is seeking a medical assistant to join our growing team. The medical assistant provides back-office support for patients and other clinical team members. This position performs tasks such as taking vitals, height / weight measurements and post operative care. This individual will play a significant role in the communication and flow of the office. 

Essential Duties/ Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Delivers safe patient care according to policies and procedures
  • Records patients' medical history, vital statistics, or information such as test results in Nextech (EHR) accurately
  • Prepares rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean
  • Provides assistance to the Surgeons and Providers in the examination rooms
  • Conducts diagnostic tests to determine patient health
  • Disposes of biomedical waste in accordance with standards
  • Administers basic health care or medical treatments in postoperative care including removal of drains and suture removal
  • Communicates follow-up instructions to patients
  • Exemplifies the desired culture and philosophies of the organization working effectively as a team member with other members of management and the clinic staff
  • Traveling to multiple locations may be required

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy, as well as verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure & multi-task
  • High level of professionalism and confidentiality
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Experience with Electronic Medical Records
  • Desire and ability help maintain a pleasant, team-oriented atmosphere
  • Prior experience working in a plastic surgery office or comparable medical office setting (Dermatology or Cosmetic Dentist)
  • Must maintain a professional appearance and grooming at all times

Experience:

  • EMR systems: 1 year (Preferred)
  • Vital signs: 1 year (Preferred)
  • At least 1 -2 years of experience in an ASC/office-based surgery center preferred 

License/Certification:

  • BLS Certification (Required)
  • Certified Medical Assistant (Required)
  • Certified Phlebotomy Technician (Preferred)

Work Schedule:

  • Monday - Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm
