Gas South Interns work in a fast-paced, challenging, and innovative environment.  A Gas South Intern is always looking for the ‘why’ behind the data and leveraging their intuition to guide their analyses.  As a Gas South Intern, you would play a critical role in making business decisions, get to work closely with company leadership, and make a direct impact to organizational goals from day one. 

In addition, all Interns participate in a structured Gas South Intern Program which provides ongoing development training, team-building activities and assessments to support your professional growth at Gas South and beyond.

What you will be responsible for:

  • Analyzing company and market data
  • Build and develop models and/or processes to support business decisions
  • Perform competitive analysis and market research
  • Monitor metrics for business and report to leadership
  • Interact with business partners to discuss their needs and capture requirements
  • Assist in preparation of project documents
  • Assist with preparation or presentations, demonstrations, and data flow diagrams
  • Assist in data collection task

Other things we like:

  • Rising Junior or Senior (sophomore year completed), pursuing Bachelor’s degree in business/management, Engineering, Math, Finance, or Economics preferred
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
  • Strong technical and quantitative skills
  • Solid understanding of data analysis, model building, model validation
  • Effective time management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Some programming experience or understanding of programming logic (VB, SQL, Python, etc.) is preferred
  • Experience with statistical or analytics software (SAS, R, etc.) is preferred
  • Advanced Data Analysis skills (Regression, Monte Carlo Simulations, etc.) is preferred
  • Internship or prior relevant work experience is preferred

  • Ability to synthesize complex analytics into key points for recommendations
  • Ability to solve real word business problems using analytical techniques
  • Highly detail-oriented with the ability to see the big picture
  • Must be comfortable with creating and maintaining complex models and developing business metrics
  • Effective time management skills/ability to manage multiple competing priorities under tight deadlines
  • Ability to proactively identify and act upon key business drivers and process improvement opportunities
  • Work collaboratively and effectively communicate complex concepts/results
  • Self-starter with the ability to anticipate and independently solve problems. Perform troubleshooting and take initiative to resolve internal customer concerns
  • Creative, innovative, curious, and proactive

Brief Snapshot of the departments within SRM

  • Pricing/Structuring – Develops and maintains pricing models that reflects existing and future market conditions.
  • Middle Office – Reconciles Pipeline data and settles Wholesale and Industrials billing.
  • Trading and Scheduling – Manages physical trading and asset management/optimization.
  • Risk – Manages hedging needs for the company and forward position exposure.

What is an Internship at Gas South? 

The purpose of the Gas South Internship Program is to: 

  • Provide completion of special projects and filling any gaps during peak workloads.
  • Perform fundamental tasks freeing permanent employees to do higher priority work.
  • Facilitate intern learning activities outside the main job duties for which they are hired to foster team engagement and holistic experience for all interns.
  • Provide the opportunity to apply classroom theory to "real world" situations thus enhancing the intern’s academic and career goals.
  • Engage interns with other employees to share their dedication, motivation and influence our work environments.
  • Provide interaction with Senior Management and leadership by formally presenting their experiences at the end of the program.
