Then the Senior Data Analyst – Risk Management role at Gas South may be the perfect fit for you! Gas South Analysts progress through a career path of Analyst I, Analyst II, Senior Analyst, Lead Analyst. While Gas South is currently looking for a candidate with Senior Analyst experience, a higher level may be offered commensurate with experience.

As a Senior Data Analyst in Risk Management, you will lead the development and enhancement of models and scripts that support critical risk functions, including price and volumetric exposure analysis, portfolio management, and storage valuation. You will collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to identify and resolve process inefficiencies, contributing to the company’s enterprise risk management strategy.

You will be responsible for interpreting complex datasets, creating advanced visualizations, and delivering actionable insights that inform Gas South’s risk posture and mitigation strategies. Additionally, you will synthesize natural gas market intelligence to support contract rate design, asset evaluation, weather risk management, and load forecasting. You will also leverage this market intelligence to identify arbitrage opportunities and develop data-driven trading strategies to capture and lock in value for the organization.

As a senior member of the analytics team, you will ensure data integrity, mentor junior analysts, and contribute to the evolution of Gas South’s data strategy. This role offers the opportunity to influence high-level decisions and drive innovation in a fast-paced environment.

You bring expertise in multiple coding languages and are skilled in designing automated processes and scalable data systems. Your ability to think critically and communicate insights effectively makes you a trusted advisor across the organization.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Lead the development and enhancement of models and scripts that support critical risk functions, including price and volumetric exposure analysis, portfolio management, and storage valuation

  • Interpret complex datasets, create advanced visualizations, and deliver actionable insights that inform Gas South’s risk posture and mitigation strategies
  • Synthesize natural gas market intelligence to support contract rate design, asset evaluation, weather risk management, and load forecasting
  • Leverage market intelligence to identify arbitrage opportunities and develop data-driven trading strategies to capture and lock in value for the organization
  • Ensure data integrity, mentor junior analysts, and guide the evolution of Gas South’s data strategy

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Analytics, Engineering, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, or a related field preferred.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and programming languages including SQL, Python, DAX, PowerQuery, Java, and/or VB. Proficient in Git and version control best practices.
  • Strong experience with ETL processes, database administration and development (e.g., Access, Azure, Oracle, MySQL), and designing scalable data pipelines. Skilled in web scraping, data cleaning, and aggregation.
  • Strong ability to present information using data visualizations techniques to inform business decisions and strategy.
  • Expertise in building forecasting models and machine learning algorithms. Strong data visualization skills to support strategic decision-making.
  • Deep understanding of the wholesale gas market, storage and asset optimization, pipeline and utility tariff structures, and the regulatory landscape in the energy sector.

Preferred Experience

  • Certifications such as CAP, SDS, MCSE in Data Management and Analytics, or AI-related credentials are a plus.
  • Experience in building forecasting models and machine-learning algorithms.
  • Experience with CRM systems and business intelligence tools is strongly preferred.

Sitting: Ability to sit for extended periods at a desk or workstation while performing computer-based tasks, conducting meetings, and collaborating with colleagues.

Standing and Walking: Ability to stand and walk within the office environment, such as when attending meetings, interacting with colleagues or external stakeholders, or visiting different departments.

Lifting and Carrying: Ability to lift and carry material, files, or equipment weighing up to 20 pounds, such as when organizing documents or setting up for meetings.

Pay range is commensurate with education, experience, specialized skills or certifications, etc.

$96,182 - $107,498 USD
