More about the role:
As a Vice President, you will ensure that target audiences experience our clients’ brands consistently, at all touchpoints, driving the greatest impact, fostering relationships with stakeholders and building their business. In other words, you’ll help make sure our clients love us! An important part of this role will include overseeing the planning and execution of strategic integrated marketing communications (IMC) and guiding your teams through research to arrive at key insights that can be creatively expressed across multiple channels. We’ll look to you to help maintain and expand our existing business while contributing to new business efforts and setting the tone for client relationships and overall account management. You will also be a critical part of staffing and team management decisions and implementation, ensuring we have the best possible people for the client and ensuring those people are growing and inspired.
What you'll do:
Strategic Client & Financial Leadership:
- Anticipate client needs and proactively integrate insights into account strategy, ensuring recommendations are forward-thinking and align with business objectives.
- Proactively build and manage client budgets, aligning forecasts with actuals and optimizing financial performance.
- Anticipate financial risks and adjust plans to ensure fiscal health and profitability across accounts.
Growth & Business Development:
- Regularly review budgets and scopes to identify responsible ways to convert out-of-pocket (OOP) expenses to fee.
- Identify gaps in client needs and propose new services that align with client goals, driving organic growth.
- Actively contribute to new business development, through strategic insights, proposal development, and/or direct client engagement.
Compelling Communication & Storytelling:
- Build clear, well-supported communications (presentations, client interactions, internal discussions) that leverage research and insights to explain recommendations.
- Anticipate questions and adapt delivery to engage audiences and move discussions forward effectively.
Team & Inclusive Leadership:
- Model GCI’s values in daily interactions, fostering collaboration, inclusivity, and professional growth within and across teams.
- Run account teams with strong project plans, setting clear deadlines, tracking progress, and resolving issues early.
- Build collaboration across specialties to deliver integrated solutions.
- Demonstrate inclusive leadership by fostering psychological safety, ensuring equitable decision-making, and creating career development opportunities for all team members.
Experience that contributes to success:
- 10+ years in healthcare communications, with at least 5 years in senior account leadership roles overseeing complex, multi-stakeholder engagements.
- Demonstrated success in leading strategic planning and execution for pharmaceutical clients (this role requires specific oncology experience), including product launches, lifecycle management, and patient/HCP engagement.
- Deep expertise in navigating regulatory environments, including FDA and global compliance standards, with experience managing medical/legal/regulatory review processes.
- Proven ability to build and maintain senior-level client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor and delivering measurable business impact.
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams across PR, digital, creative, and analytics disciplines.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a track record of developing innovative, integrated communications solutions.
- Advanced communication and presentation skills, capable of translating complex healthcare concepts into compelling narratives for diverse audiences.
- Experience in global campaign development and execution, including coordination across regions and adaptation to local market needs.
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive team culture and mentoring junior talent to support professional growth and team excellence.

The base salary for this position at the time of this posting may range between:
$75,000 - $180,000 USD
