
Portfolio Management, Analyst/Associate
SUMMARY
The Portfolio Management team’s primary focus is to construct, implement and monitor the customized portfolios GCM Grosvenor manages within our Private Equity group. Additionally, the team more broadly performs initial and final investment allocation assessments for each investment opportunity sourced across all Private Markets investment verticals. The team creates forward-looking portfolio construction plans that align with GCM Grosvenor’s investment views while ensuring compliance with each portfolio’s stated objectives and constraints. The team also facilitates investment committee meetings and tests and documents iterative reviews throughout the pre-investment process. The Portfolio Management team works closely with nearly all departments across the Firm, including Investment Research, Risk Management, Finance and Legal. In addition, the Portfolio Management team works closely with our Business Development group to create customized portfolio proposals in pursuit of new business.
As an onsite/hybrid employee, you are expected to be in the office on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Participate in reviewing investment opportunities to determine preliminary and final appetite and allocations based on the stated objectives for each program and Firm policy, plus document final investment allocations and rationales for each.
- Perform control function to test and document each investment against approved investment guidelines for adherence to participating GCM client program objectives and confirm any client-specific protocols are completed.
- Participate in weekly department and investment team meetings, which includes running the weekly investment committee meetings.
- Participate in review and monitoring target portfolio plans for GCM client programs to ensure portfolio is being properly constructed in accordance with applicable objectives and constraints.
- Maintain good knowledge base of underlying private equity funds and current investment themes.
- Prepare and review periodic client portfolio update presentation materials/customized deliverables.
- Serve as a primary coordinator of Investment execution process, working with various groups to ensure that all stages of investment diligence are completed, closing & funding dates are tracked, and participating client programs and amounts are communicated broadly.
- Work on special projects as needed, such as broad investment process or strategic development projects.
GENERAL EDUCATION, SKILLS OR EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
The individual should have broad-based investment and capital markets knowledge. Specific knowledge of the private equity industry and various strategies would be a significant enhancement. The ideal experience and critical competencies for the role include the following:
- Bachelor’s Degree with a concentration in Finance, Economics, Accounting or a related field with a superior grade point average.
- 1 - 3 years working in an investment, operations or accounting role within an asset management firm or top tier public accounting firm.
- Overall familiarity with the alternative investments industry and a working knowledge of a broad range of private equity strategies.
- Superior written and verbal communication skills. The ability to articulate thoughts in a clear and concise manner to both clients and staff through written correspondence, presentations and in meetings.
- Highly proficient with Excel, Word, and PowerPoint and experience working with Power BI.
- Exposure to AI and enthusiasm for leveraging AI-enabled tools like Claude and ChatGPT to improve productivity, workflows, and business intelligence.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing environment.
- Excellent work ethic, high degree of professionalism and integrity, and commitment to team in a goal-oriented environment.
- Superior organization, decision making and problem-solving skills with the demonstrated initiative and ability to manage tasks and projects independently from start to finish.
- Flexibility and adaptability to handle changing priorities pertaining to work flow.

Actual base salary may vary based on factors such as individual's experience, skills, and qualifications for the role. Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus based on factors such as individual, team, and company performance as well as a comprehensive benefits package.

$100,000 - $130,000 USD
