The Project Executive provides senior-level oversight for the execution of commissioning operations across a portfolio of multiple concurrent projects. Serving as the key liaison between onsite Commissioning Project Managers, internal project management teams, and the broader project delivery organization, the Project Executive ensures alignment, accountability, and seamless communication across all stakeholders.

This role collaborates closely with project owners and internal teams to ensure projects are executed in full accordance with the contracted scope, while consistently meeting or exceeding client expectations and maintaining a strong focus on operational efficiency, overall project success, and profitability throughout the commissioning lifecycle.

Managing multiple concurrent projects, the Project Executive delivers proactive leadership and strategic guidance across all phases—from pre-mobilization planning through final acceptance testing and project closeout—ensuring high-quality outcomes and successful delivery.

  • Supervises onsite Project Managers and Commissioning Engineers.

 

Duties/Responsibilities:

 

Project and Operations Management

  • Perform day-to-day management of overall commissioning operations across projects and teams.
  • Manage and control financial and administrative aspects of projects in accordance with contract requirements.
  • Organize, direct, and coordinate planning and execution of all commissioning support documents and activities.
  • Manage the acquisition and utilization of project resources to include personnel and equipment.
  • Establish and modify management structures to support effective contract activities.

 

Client and Stakeholder Interface

  • Serve as the primary interface with project owners and senior project teams regarding technical support and commissioning issues.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs and expectations are met.
  • Address client concerns and issues promptly and professionally.
  • Communicate project policies, objectives, and goals to commissioning personnel and stakeholders.

 

 

Team Leadership and Supervision

  • Lead and supervise the onsite commissioning team, including contractor personnel and internal staff.
  • Assign contractor schedules, review discrepancies in work performance, and ensure adherence to work standards.

 

Commissioning Process Oversight

  • Oversee the development and review of commissioning plans and documentation across all assigned projects.
  • Oversee management, procurement, and return of all load banks, generators, and any other test equipment across all assigned projects.
  • Oversee all commissioning activities to ensure quality, compliance, and consistency with project goals across all assigned projects.
  • Track and manage updates to formal commissioning documents and resolve commissioning issues across all assigned projects.
  • Oversee project schedule milestone progress and coordinate with internal teams and clients to identify schedule risks and drive timely resolutions across all assigned projects.
  • Act as a direct resource and escalation point for the onsite commissioning team removing administrative and logistical obstacles across all assigned projects.
  • Oversee completion, compilation, and review of all commissioning report documentation across all assigned projects.

 

Communication and Reporting

  • Demonstrate strong oral and written communication skills in delivering project updates, technical explanations, and issue resolution.
  • Report progress, challenges, and solutions to senior leadership and clients.

 

Health and Safety

  • Ensure that all commissioning activities are conducted in accordance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Promote a culture of safety within the commissioning team.

 

Quality Assurance and Compliance

  • Ensure that all commissioning activities adhere to quality assurance and compliance standards.
  • Identify and address any issues or deficiencies in the commissioning process.
  • Implement corrective actions and process improvements as needed.

 

Additional responsibilities and tasks as required to support the organization's goals and adapt to evolving business needs.

 

Attributes/Abilities:

  • Must have a satisfactory background/MVR check.
  • Must pass a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, and/or random drug test.
  • Skilled in commissioning tools and associated software.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Working knowledge of NEC, OSHA electrical safety standards, and applicable building codes.
  • Experience with electrical systems including generators, switchgear and breakers, uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems with battery backup, static transfer systems, and power distribution equipment.
  • Proficient in electrical testing practices such as current monitoring, power quality analysis, and testing procedures aligned with National Electrical Testing Association (NETA) standards.
  • Skilled in mechanical system startups and acceptance procedures, as well as control programming for Building Management Systems (BMS).
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE standard for Mechanical system testing in Data Centers.
  • Knowledgeable in various fire suppression systems including water, pre-action, gas, and chemical delivery systems.

 

Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • At least 8 years of experience, with 4 years specialized in commissioning and 4 years as an onsite Project Manager on contracts of similar size, complexity, and team composition.

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Combination of office and field work environment with frequent travel to project sites.
  • May require working in various environmental conditions, including construction sites, operational facilities, and energized equipment up to 136kV.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Potential low exposure to various conditions, including dirt, heat, fumes, smoke, water, noise, vibration, grease, oil, and dust.
