Position Summary

General Atlantic is looking to hire an experienced Workday Senior Engineer in our New York Office. The Senior Engineer will be responsible for accelerating our enrichment of our Workday offerings across HCM and Finance with a strong lens on building and supporting Extend applications, enabling new module functionality and providing configuration/development expertise. You will act as a key point of contact for Workday solution delivery for the organization, improving our existing portfolio and delivering new functionalities as part of ongoing projects.

Our current Workday footprint includes Workday’s core HCM & Finance modules, PRISM and Extend. This role combines strong technical expertise, a solid understanding of HR and Finance business processes, and the ability to deliver sustainable product. The ideal candidate will have broad Workday experience, an agile learning style, and experience supporting global, scalable products and development efforts.

The role requires active collaboration with end user stakeholders in our Human Capital and Finance teams, as well as within IT with our Product Management, Data Engineering, Infrastructure/Security and interfacing application teams.

Responsibilities 

  • Serve as the Workday Senior Engineer, responsible for end-to-end ownership of the design, build and support of our Workday Extend application suite
  • Create and enhance Extend applications using PMD Scripting, Orchestration, Model Components, and APIs (REST & SOAP)
  • Support the resolution of L2 & L3-level production issues within Workday Extend, ensuring timely and effective solutions
  • Support complex configuration, new module deployment (such as Peakon, Strategic Sourcing, Workforce Planning), and associated integrations as prioritized
  • Deliver continuous improvements to our existing Workday footprint through production enhancements, quality production support and design refactoring
  • Prototype new solutions to stakeholders, showcasing potential improvements and prototypes
  • Operate under SDLC standards, change management protocols, and documentation best practices
  • Stay current with Workday releases and recommend adoption of relevant new features

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related field
  • 6+ years of Workday experience, specifically including:
    • 2+ years in a senior-level technical role
    • 2+ years of Workday Extend development experience
  • Proven expertise in Workday integration design and development, including but not limited to using EIBs, Core Connectors, APIs, and Workday Studio
  • Experience with JSON, XML, XSLT, JavaScript, and other application development technologies
  • Strong understanding of HR and Finance data structures and business processes
  • Proven experience in translating business efforts into automated or systematized processes
  • Strong understanding of Workday Security frameworks and best practices
  • Familiarity with SDLC principles, testing protocols, and release management
  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Self-starter with a passion for technology and the ability to learn quickly and independently
  • Commitment to data integrity, privacy, and compliance regulations

Preferred Skills

  • Deep functional knowledge of HR, Finance, and Payroll processes
  • Workday Pro certification or experience with a certified Workday Partner
  • Experience with BIRT, Adaptive Planning, Strategic Sourcing, Peakon and Workday Learning
