Key Purpose of Role

Actis is seeking to expand its Finance team with this newly created role.  This new hire will work collaboratively with the existing team and colleagues across Actis and provide support to the firm as it continues its growth strategy to be the leader in sustainable infrastructure investing. The Finance associate will be a key member of the global finance organisation.

The GL finance & compliance team requires a strong team member to evolve as a key part of the current finance function. We need an ambitious and highly talented finance professional to help building a best-in-class platform that supports the needs of a wide range of stakeholders including capital raising teams, investment teams and our operations teams.

The successful candidate will be expected to become an integrated part of the Finance team and provide profound technical accounting knowledge into the local finance operations in Luxembourg.

The individual will primarily focus on accounting and financial compliance matters for Actis UK entities but is also assumed to actively support UK consolidation accounts.  The successful candidate will be expected to further strengthen and establish a strong accounting function in the UK with knowledge of local FCA financial compliance matters under the AIFMD.  Close coordination with local Consultants and other finance colleagues in the group is essential, most of the group accounting function is in Delhi, India.  This role will report to the Finance Director based in Luxembourg, who manages and oversees overall consolidation and accounting matters across the group.

Due to the complex nature of the work, some experience of working with asset management, private equity or financial services in general would be highly beneficial for this new team member.

Key Responsibilities (this list is not exhaustive)

  • Excellent accounting skills with proven ability to ensure accuracy in recording entries and ensure compliance with statutory guidelines and processes
  • Ensure proper and accurate maintenance of books of accounts, ownership of preparation of financial statements for respective entities in scope
  • Ensure timely and accurate month/quarter-end and year-end close processes with adequate supporting documentation
  • Own the preparation and submission of regulatory filings of all UK regulated entities (FCA returns including ICARA)
  • Monitor own funds/ liquidity requirements of regulated entities and highlight/address any potential compliance risks
  • Collaborate with compliance teams to ensure alignment with FCA standards across all financial operations.
  • Provide support to the Finance Director in the co-ordination with statutory auditors for year-end audits and ensuring timely closure of audits
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and provide feedback for enhancements in accounting procedures
  • Ability to communicate detailed and complex financial information and synthesize into clear and actionable senior level decision making

Knowledge

  • Qualified chartered accountant (ACCA/ICAEW)
  • Finance professional with understanding of the private equity industry
  • Familiar with FCA regulations and compliance returns
  • Strong technical finance expertise, extensive experience in a similar role
  • Embraces change management
  • Complete knowledge in UK GAAP and IFRS, US GAAP knowledge is an advantage
  • Excellent understanding of accounting processes and systems (Ideally experience with Workday Finance)
