About This Role
As the EH&S Lead, you will serve as a subject matter expert in health, safety, and environmental protection in support of our enrichment technology development and pilot-scale operations. You will help develop and implement pragmatic, fit-for-purpose programs to manage chemical, radiological, and industrial hazards—supporting our mission while ensuring full regulatory compliance and operational excellence.
Responsibilities:
- Lead the development and deployment of our EH&S management system, including procedures, training programs, and performance indicators
- Advise on the implementation of safety controls related to UF₆ handling, radiation monitoring, and criticality prevention
- Perform and document hazard analyses (PHA, JHA, etc.) across R&D and pilot operations
- Coordinate with engineering, operations, and quality teams to ensure safe facility design and equipment commissioning
- Manage reporting obligations to federal and state regulators (e.g., NRC, OSHA, EPA)
- Lead and participate in investigations, audits, inspections, and continuous improvement efforts
- Cultivate a strong culture of safety ownership across a multidisciplinary team
Basic Qualifications:
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
- Strong understanding of discipline fundamentals.
- Ability to perform trade studies and make clear recommendations using first principles and discipline fundamentals even with partial information.
- Bachelor’s degree in safety, health physics, chemical engineering, industrial hygiene, or related field (Master’s preferred)
- 5+ years experience in a safety or health role, preferably in a nuclear, chemical, or R&D-intensive environment
- Working knowledge of regulations including 10 CFR 20, 10 CFR 70, OSHA 1910, and DOE/NRC EH&S expectations
- Strong communication and collaboration skills—capable of influencing a high-performance team
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Experience in a fast-paced engineering environment or a highly technical role requiring a resourceful, entrepreneurial approach to complete tasks within tight timeframes or budget constraints.
- NEBOSH, CSP, CIH, or CHP certification
- Hands-on experience with radiological work planning, hazardous materials handling, and industrial ventilation
- Evidence of exceptional ability (prior projects, portfolio of work, completed products, etc).
Additional Requirements:
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as necessary.
