Linux System Engineer

As a Systems Engineer, you will be responsible for the administration, performance tuning, and automation of our Linux-based systems. You will work closely with developers, network engineers, and traders to ensure system reliability and low-latency performance. This is a hands-on role that requires expertise in Linux systems, scripting, and infrastructure automation. 

Responsibilities: 

• Maintain, monitor, and optimize Linux systems to ensure high availability and performance. 

• Automate tasks using a combination of Python, Bash, Ansible and Rundeck. 

• Troubleshoot hardware, OS, and network issues in a fast-paced trading environment. 

• Deploy and manage configuration automation tools like Ansible and Salt. 

• Manage life cycle of Linux servers from OS deployment to system configuration.  

• Support AWS/GCP cloud environments using infrastructure as code.  

• Work with developers to optimize application performance and system resources. 

• Ensure system security through best practices, patching, and monitoring. 

• Participate in on-call rotation and respond to critical system issues. 

• Research and evaluate new technologies to improve efficiency and scalability. 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 

• 3+ years of experience in Linux system administration (Red Hat, CentOS or Rocky preferred). 

• Experience managing Docker images and clusters like Docker Swarm, Nomad, or Kubernetes 

• Experience with managing AWS/GCP infrastructure as code using Terraform.  

• Experience with configuration management tools like Ansible and Salt. 

• Strong scripting skills in Bash, Python, or a similar language. 

• Familiarity with networking concepts (TCP/IP, multicast, DNS, firewalls). 

• Experience with monitoring tools (Prometheus, Grafana, Zabbix, or similar). 

• Understanding of low-latency trading environments is a plus.  

• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a high-performance environment. 

• Desire to learn new technologies both inside our environment and out.
